Hi Guys and Girls,
Was talking to the old man the other day and he was saying how he could not find and performance figures on the current GTS. 0-100km/h and 1/4mile. He had looked on the net and in the buyers guides in most magazines. Does anyone know them and would wish to share? Thanks in advanced. Cheers Ryan |

Search the forum using "GTS" and you will find lots of performance times for 0-100, 1/4, 80-120 and lap times. Youtube has vids too but generally
low to mids 12's for 1/4 and low to mid 4's for 0-100

0-100, in around 26 seconds.
On the back of the tow truck, going to the dealer for another recall. |

In all seriousness I wouldn't know. But I am sure the figures are in the motoring magazines that quote new car stats in the back.

When the VF GTS was first released it was pillared from post to post on here when Hsv said it would do 0-100 in 4.4secs and go close to running a 11sec qrta. Go figure.

As for VF GTS it will also be the jewel in the crown for holden/HSV, low 12s bog stock and mid 4s 0-100km/h attached to a very very nice car. Whats not to like. |

I think the quickest magazine figures were from that kiwi mag that Roger used to mention.
4.1 12.1 (From memory)

Yes but don't forget the overboost feature. Apparently worth about 10% according to a contact, who I think should be definitely be in a position to know. Certainly explains their pace I'd say. Not saying they are faster overall than the 8's though, but they fly in the mid ranges. High average power across the usable rev range. Last edited by 2242100; 03-06-2015 at 07:12 PM. |

The forced barra is a great engine, as is the Miami. Different engines doing different things. The forced barra works very well with auto, especially for the straight acceleration guys- that is what I thought driving a worked F6, the auto and torque converter helps with the turbo spool and minimising lag. Also the changes with the auto with torque converter keep spool up. The Miami works better in manual (as there is no boost spool required and the power is immediate and linear), and is great for the guys who like linear power on corners, as you can feel precisely what power is being fed through the engine/clutch gearbox to get the precise power needed in the corner. Bit puerile to say one engine is better than the other- that is the beauty with engineering, it can result in very different engineering being very potent in very specific and different applications. Sometimes I wonder if the people who go to print with comments on these machines, have actually driven and really experienced this great machinery we have on tap (at the moment) for astoundingly cheap money relative to what else is out there.

Latest rumour from Ls1 site about series 2 VF -
Redline Series 2 to get a 325kw LS3 with bi-modal exhaust. New Clubsport "R" to get a detuned 400kw LSA (and big diff from GTS) No mention of a GTS "R".....yet.

Low 12's after all these years..... pfft.
Back in 2004 my VTii R8 did low 12's 1/4 at the drag strip with nothing but a tune and exhaust. 11.8's with a 224 camshaft. New corvette does 10 sec 1/4's. Nissan 35 GTR did low 11's .. etc, bet the new one is even quicker , I haven't even looked. and so on... all global "performance" vehicles are now way ahead |

The sad thing is that from dead back on, cruising behind the VF commodore it actually looks really good, like a proper new design. But as soon as you catch a side angle glimpse of one, there's the bloated overweight VE looking at you yet again. Whoevers idea it was to make a family sedan weigh 1.8 tonne and get fatter, their smart idea failed. What was wrong with sedans sized like the EA-EL falcon or VN-VS commodore?? too light, they didn't chew up enough petrochemicals and materials including tyres, brake pads, etc, for the global corporate parts manufacturers..... that's what was wrong with them. Short term thinking.... only lasts short term. |

The GTS is as great car in many ways but if I had one I'd be disgusted to know it makes less rwkw than a GT.

Actually, As a GT owner you should be disgusted your more powerful (at the wheels) ford gets its butt handed to it by a less powerful and butt ugly commodore. In every way, shape and form.. If it was still stock of course.

I've seen 3 different GTS's run at the drags on two separate occasions. Not one ran better than a low 13 on the same day I ran mid 12's. I expected a lot more but in real life, the ones I saw, just don't deliver.

^Manuals?
Not sure what the quickest manual GTS is, but like the F6 and GT Fords it would be slower than the autos.

I have no issues with admitting the GTS is faster. It should be too considering the price tag, equipment and tyres fitted but in my opinion they dropped the ball with the engine fitted to the car. Most powerful Aussie built car ever made, ah nope. 430kw, ah nope. The rest of the car is great.
Benny.
