There was a Defensive Driving course organized through the Forums maybe a year and a half back, it was done through the John Bowe Institute at Calder Park.

http://www.johnbowedriving.com/

The one that we did was the Drive to Survive course, it has a lot of very good information for you in the day. From what I remember you have to do this one in order to do the Advanced Driving and High Performance Cornering/Braking one too.

Hope this helps.

DECA Training in Shepparton has a course designed exactly for what you are looking for, ring them on 5821 1099

I wonder if there would be enough intrest among forum members for another one of these to be organised in the near future? The AFF DECA day was an eye opener for me, at just how quickly control can be lost. I would love to have a go at a course with an instructor riding shotgun...

The DECA course is what AAMI use. I was a DECA instructor for 12 months, and now do Advanced work for Rick Bates and his school.

If you do it with AAMI, you get a reduction on your car insurance. (or you did) Courses are not similar. The AAMI one does not teach you anything about car control. It was against policy for the instructors to say you should do this or that in regards car handling or placement.

No, it is NOT the AAMI course, I worked there for 13 years!

It is a totally seperate 5 day course ran out of Shepparton only, it is designed specifically for P & L platers, in fact used to be called the "P & L Plate Course".
