I would say somewhere near the lower HR side of the oil filter, like the yellow painted section in the pic:

For those that are interested,it is located on the very convenient firewall side of the engine,sort of in the middle and close to the top.
Two Ford dealers didn't even know where it was.

And if by "the Nanny State" Victoria is indicated then both the VIN and the Engine number are in the details printed into your certificate of registration.
