Hi everyone, I get this strange metallic tapping noise when accelerating from between about 2500 to 3500rpm. Sounds like it's coming from underneath the car and usually happens when I'm accelerating to overtake or to close the gap in the traffic. Lasts for less than a second. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue or might know what it could be. Have taken it to the Ford service centre to have it checked out but they couldn't find anything wrong. Thanks in advance.
Cheers, V |

However it could also just be a loose heat shield or something along those lines. Does it feel like it hampers the performance in anyway, or is it just a metallic rattle with no impact on performance? Hopefully it is not the Turbo... My be time to do some fault finding...

Coming up to 20,000kms now but first noticed it at about 2,000kms. Told the service guys about it when I took it in for the first service but they couldn't replicate the noise. No impact on performance at all. Pulls like a train with the Bluefin

Still no luck. Took it in again but they couldn't replicate the noise. Funny thing is that I haven't heard the noise over the past week...

All sorted! Heat shield around the steering rack had come loose. It's normally held on by two metal snap-lock buttons. The buttons were hitting against the steering rack.

Did you find the fault or the dealer?

Hi Torquefacts,
I couldn't be more happy. There's a noticeable increase in torque. Power delivery is more linear; turbo lag almost eliminated. Mid-range acceleration seems like it has improved but I haven't timed it so can't say for sure. Fuel consumption has increased slightly but it may be due to the more "spirited" way I now drive. The service provided by the distributor was exceptional. Uploading the software was a cinch. I definitely recommend it! V |

You're welcome. Will be interested to hear about Dreamscience. I wasn't aware they had any upgrades for the Ecoboost engine.
