Default SS badges on a VY Acclaim....why!!!!

At work the other day this elderly couple drove in in a greyish Acclaim and I noticed SS badges on the bottoms of the rear doors and bootlid. Beats me why people do that. These were elderly people too! It did look a bit disturbing with the V6 on the front guard and the SS on the rear door. Was almost ecpecting Clubsport badges on the boot but it was only an SS one nicely placed under the Commodore Acclaim badge!! WHY!!!!

Some people put them on if they have a S/C 6. But I don't believe the Acclaim was available with the S/C 6.

How is that any different from people putting tickford wings on a GLi or GT-P badges on an XT?
Ford and holden owners both like to dream :P

Personally, i'd rather de-badge... much cleaner look

I saw a guy at my local mechanics who had SS badges all over his VT exec. I asked him why. He said the car was a cheap government auction one, and the badges are only like $15, and it keeps people guessing what it is. Not that the hubcaps or ECOTEC badges didn't give it away. I just nodded and agreed, tried not to lose it with laughter.

It was only the VT SS where you could get the supercharged 6 instead of the V8.

I've got some SV8 badges they can have .. I'd still like to get one of those "unobtainable" VY-VZ Exec V8s ....... stealthy

De badging is nice too.....I've think if I were to put other types of badges on my car I'd at least get rid of the originals ones too. Like the toyota mitubishi lancer I saw the other day...lol

How often do you see stuff like this?

Like years ago when every VL executive had the red turbo badge on the boot.

Bodykits always make me laugh. Here in Hobart, there is a grey/green VK (yes, VK Commodore) with VS Clubsport front & rear skirts. I'd love to take a photo and post it on here.

Holden did make the N/A SS v6 with the VP. Maybe they always wanted one of them, and it was the closest thing they could come up with.

Or someone is messing with their minds!

I haven't.....guess I"m missing out. Regarding the acclaim at least they could have pulled all the original badges off first and then at least would have fooled a few! Guess I'll stick with my XR8 Fairmont Ghia......lol

Exactly

Maybe the elderly couple bought the car secondhand with the bages on & thought they had picked up a cheap SS.

I hate to say this but im sure there are BA/BF XR6 NA owners out there with the turbo badges on NA im not one of them id prefer the other way have the turbo & flick the badge.

I have a friend who stuck ss badges on his nissan pulsar. It is a pulsar ss. Its very funny cause he got the badges for free (he used to work in spare parts at holden) and he really does not like holdens so he stuck the badges on his pulsar to take the **** outta holden owners. It is a 1988 model pulsar so its old and crappy looking.

Ok well rebadging a vehicle is one thing, but to fit it with SS badges, then add Clubsport without removing the ACCLAIM ones.............. well thats rediculious

Even tickford badges are warranted on some modified fords but if you leave the GLi or XT badges on......... wtf, if it doesnt have any tickford parts or HSV parts then re-badging is merely a **** factor and that I do not condone.
