Thumbs down Scottish independence referendum

Very poor result. Hang your heads in shame all those who voted no.

Happy dependence day to them! They bought into all the scare tactics. "It's too risky!" yeah right, that would have been the smartest thing they could have done. We need more smaller governments competing on ideas and not having too much control, not fewer but larger ones. That goes for America too. I don't mean all the states should become their own countries, but rather the power of the federal government should be very limited, giving most of the power to the states.

What's your argument for supporting independance?

Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

Yeah, shame on them for having an opinion and exercising their democratic right to vote for what they think is right!

(I too wanted a YES outcome by the way)

Really the 2,001,926 people that have a 55% majority should hang their heads in shame

I think it is a fantastic result first and foremost for Scotland but also for the United Kingdom.

They did win some more powers from Whitehall but are still part of the UK...best option I reckon.

I'm still trying to work out why this was headline news here for the last few days.

I'm not saying I don't care about world events but I just don't get it all. What's to be gained and what's to be lost? :

Shame, then they could have joined the EU proper and the Union Jack could have changed.
And the aus flag.

Just break America up... the coasts can join Canada, the centre jesus land, and the south can make a new confederacy. Texas can go it alone.

Some states can become Aztlan.

And Australia going "independant" would change what exactly? I have never understood the arguments for an Australian republic?

Maybe so for you but means a lot to others, maybe a change one day maybe not.
You will be waiting long long time for changes if any considering a referendum on Australian republic was defeated.
