Tune/Chip for Focus TDCI

Just wondering if anyone has tuned/chipped a LW TDCI focus ? Any noticeable gains to be had ? thanks.

4B Fabrications and Tuning is currently dyno tuning my TDCI Focus, check out my TDCI Focus thread in this forum theast two pages.

They're located in carrum downs.

I've had the superchips/bluefin map put into my LW TDCI.

As the brochure says, up to 89nM improvement in torque.
Top value for only around $600.

Low/mid rpm flexibility has improved a lot, which for me is what its all about. (check superchip's graph)

Fuel economy did not degrade, at all. Might even be marginally better.

Only quibble is that the engine is now slightly vibey accelerating away from 1500rpm.

I suspect that the remap does not influence the shift points on your auto trans.

In a drag race (not for me), I think the trans now needs to shift up earlier (due to the improved mid/bottom end)

I went from 98KW/fronts to 117KW and a lot more torque but I've got 3" turbo back exhaust, bigger FMIC and Hybrid GT1749V turbo on there.

think I prefer the greater torque at lower rpm/speed on the factory tune as most of my driving is city traffic so I would not get to wind it out

You'd still keep that early torque at low RPM if you keep the factory turbo, mines been shifted up a bit more because I've got a turbo with a 56mm compressor wheel in it, so its shifted up the RPM but there is more of it when it comes in.

It'll hold 100km/h on the highway in 6th with cruise, but if you want to overtake someone in 6th, you've gotta spool it up a bit before you get going, if you just punch it in 6th with wide open throttle you'll be sitting there for 2 seconds until the turbo spools up.

If you leave a bit of distance and get it boosting up before you pull out to overtake you can haul *** in 6th still, much more so than when it was stock.

If you don't want to wait if you drop it back to 4th you'll pretty much get moving right away.

That is the result of the bigger turbo but I've got a much stronger mid range and it'll rev out past 3500 RPM much quicker now.

In general its much more torquey, but more middle range than low, if you're giving it to it, you'll notice it lift the front up noticably even with the stiffer suspension setup I have where as on factory tune it wouldn't even move.
