Tonight I tried to silence some suspect lifters with new ones.Once done it sounded ok.Butt the power has died in the butt. Hopefully there enough sunshine to put the three old ones back in!! It is lifeless.Bugeer that for a joke

did u leave them in oil for a few hours before fitting them?

I did leave them in oil for 2 days in a bottle.I wasnt in a rush.

They don't need to be left in oil, they pump up in a few minutes with the engine running.
Power shouldn't have changed with new lifters unless the old ones are stuffed, then you'd have more power and a quieter engine anyway. Did you make sure the correct amount of shims were used? And if so, you should leave it for a while, hydraulic lifters ain't rocket science, they are very simple devices, they simply cushion/take up the clearance and have a great tolerance in doing so. I agree with sox on this useless.
Stop playing with your lifters. Theres no power to be gained here outside of STUFFED RATTLY lifter replacement. You've heard mine rattle and pump up in seconds and they are fine so are yours. |
