Default Origins of the XE Group C rear spoiler

Does anyone know where these huge rear spoilers originated from,
or who actually made them for the Group C cars ????

I've heard stories that Dick Johnson was behind it... But I'd love to hear from anyone that has FIRST HAND knowledge...

none of the "my brothers, sisters, wifes, second cousin know a guy" kinda crap please :

I'll take a guess and say Wayne Draper must have had a big involvement in it. I'm pretty sure he was the one who designed the kit, and he made the Phase Autos aftermarket kits, so I'd say his company made the ones for the touring cars too.

Do people still make these kits?

If so how do they look on a road car, as the XE/D has always been a nice looker in a less is more kind of a way..

Draper made his "moonraker" spoiler which was wind tunnel spoiler. DJ tested it on his XE & didn't like it (his rear suspension was out according to Draper). So DJ elected to make a big bathtub spoiler similar to the Commodore's.

That's what was in the AMC issue regarding XD homologation.

x2

Check out pics of Dick's '82 spec TRUBLU/Red Roo XE. He ran the "Moonraker" spoiler that year.
