Default Another " Which way would you go" thread...

Boys, I need a bit of a nudge.

I NEED to upgrade my daily Wagon. Its pitiful.
I have stacks of options so I reckon a poll and a bit of advice from you will sort me out.
I have a budget of about $7500ish depending on the end goal.

I'm a builder/carpenter so i need to carry tools (and lots of them) as well as materials everyday.
Therefore I need a wagon (or a V8 crewman but I'm not that desperate!)
I have a wife & 3 kids so the daily is also used as a kid taxi from time to time.
I have also come to the conclusion that I have neither the time or $$$$ to have my project car (Big Block XA sedan) at this stage. But I need more POWER!!!!

Keep in mind that it is my daily so any 'mods' will need to be done on a w'end basis.
My current wagon is rego'd and in RWC so any mods done to it can be 'HIDDEN' easily from the authorities
It MUST also be reliable!!!!!

Please choose from the above or give me your own opinion

Thanks fellas

Things are goin to start falling Apart if you boost the wagon, which you forgot to mention what it is.

Go the b series, and do an xr6t conversion if need be.

B series is a decent jump in power from e series in stock form so you may not need to boost?

Ef Wagon.... I can't believe I forgot that part!!!

I'm leaning towards a XR6T wagon at the moment but just wanted to check my options

EF XR6 wagon, i know they arent fast, but they sure look good. Maybe transplant an XR6T driveline in it.

WOAH!!!!

Now thats a serious piece of kit!

If I got that way, I'll build a engine to suit.
Any ideas on what bottom end/cam/head to use??

Alot of eseries guys just leave the bottom end as stock and install a super charger or turbo kit on them as is.

You don't even have to work the head, but a port and polish would help with rwkw as well as tougher springs.

You can get a head & cam package from Hoppers Heads for $1,095 which would suit, you could rebuild the stock bottom end using the same cast pistons, just hone it, re-ring it and put new bearings in it to make it pretty much bullet proof.

Thats a good option too.
I reckon if I was to source a Ef V8 donor, I could do it quite cheap. Then spend $$$ slowly on upgrades.
