Default 5 litre rebuild

Been a while since I posted anything. Just chasing some opinions on rebuilding my engine.
Ive got a series 2 ef gli with an auto backed 5 litre running duel fuel and 303000 ks on the clock. The engine itself is stock standard but Im running lukey headers and a 2.5" system from the cats back, a power chip and a K&N panel filter. The cats are still the stockies that were on the car when I bought it 3 years ago. They have just had their ends fluted to suit the pipes/extractors.

Its a bit of slug now days and I think its time for a freshen up. Im not sure if I want to go the full hog and possibly stroke or supercharge it or whether I should just rebuild it and freshen it up with some GT40 heads and a new cam or something. It doesnt have to be a rocket but I want it to have strong low and mid range pulling power like a bent 8 should.

Anyone out there with some good ideas?

Low-mid range?

With the rebuild and wanting torque, I'd go two ways:

1) stroke it...
2) boost it (by means of supercharger).

If you go for the 2nd option, make sure you get some lower comp pistons. You'll get a crapload of torque.

And don't skimp on things either, ie reusing cam chain, that $100 or whatever "saving" by reusing the old one could turn into $3000 2nd rebuild in the near future...

So what dollar figure are you budgeting for? The Windsor section might offer more knowledgable responses than mine.

If you just want to make it behave a bit more healthily, maybe replace the ignition setup, give it a fresh panel filter, and give it a general service & tune.

Generic advice I know, but it might help
