Just bought a 2009 MB Mondeo Zetec Moondust Silver.
It has 123K kms and I know they are a sealed Gbox but I'm still going to replace all fluids and filters as I do that to start as my base after not knowing any history on it (even though it's got a full service history). Has anyone done their 6spd box? any tips? I've researched the Aisin box and noticed how someone in the UK did it with the breather hose or through the drain plug, I actually have suitable tools being a Diesel Mechanic by trade so I'll be trying the fill plug first. I've got the specifics on the fluid spec and don't mind using an alternative of Fords oil. No tans filter was a bit of a surprise to me but I'm not fussed. Also the timing belt when is it due? I'm yet to get the books and go over it but would like to get ahead. any other tip others can give me please do, I'm aware of the rubber hose that perishes (on the exhaust) with heat/age giving a DPF error and will be looking into that too. I fly down to Brissy this Friday morning and am quite excited, then ready for the 1700km drive home to Cairns, can't wait. |

I have a MA which shares the same gearbox as the early MB's from what I can gather. They are not sealed for life despite claims. Supposed to be done every 60000-80000kms according to one gearbox specialist. From memory Ford quoted 600. got it done for 280ish.

Fantastic, I hope it's an easy enough process to do. It was my only real concern with the vehicle. Apart from not ever driven and/or owning an automatic vehicle which I still have my doubts about. Thanks mate...
