its an opel omega coupe AFAIK.. i know where there is a pair of doors, rear quarters / sides/ full set of glass, window mechanism's brand new parts, going for $1500..... wish i had the cash.... just imagine a VL calais turbo coupe - you'd be able to make it so easily out of that car.......... imagine the cash you'd get for it $$ Last edited by LUXO_8; 02-03-2005 at 08:29 PM. |

The commo was based on an opel omega...but that doesn't really look like an opel omega to me...i'm sure there's some subtle differences (i think the omega's only went up to the VC style front end)? I reckon that might be an omega with VH front end or something. Wouldn't say it'd be TOO easy to whack a VL Cal front end on that...but more do-able than putting a Cal front on..like...a bus, for example...

Nope, at least went to VH or even VK, as remember Brock did those couple of prototype Opel Monza coupes with commodore front end and 5 litre V8. Just a quick change of grill and maybe bumpers and then the engine transplant.

It looks like one of the Ayder Sportiff (read ****y Commodore) that was made when they were new. A handfull of Opel panels were grafted to commodores to create a 2 door. I remember seeing a white one in Unique Cars years ago.

On the corner of the South Gippsland Highway and Quantum Close in Dandenong South [Melways: Map 95 K7] there is a white VL Calais Coupe for sale.
I don't know of a price or condition or anything, what paperwork comes with it, but it's there. It's out during the day, working hours, and then goes inside the factory on the corner overnight. I've told a mate of mine [he wants a VL... tosser] about it so he's gonna try and make the tripe out there during the day when possible, but if anyone's interested and you're quick enough, it's there. It's something different anyway. |

I saw a two door VC years ago in a Brizzy caryard. Looked as good as a VC gets, with the almost oxidised bronze paintwork. Can't be sure, but I got the feeling that this one may have had a fastback/liftback (????).

Just a thought here and I may get shot down in flames.
My original thought was perhaps a gemini made to look like a commodore, seriously look at the front windscreen shape, I reckon its closer to a gemini If I'm wrong, I'm wrong *shrugs* |

Commodores were Opel Record up to VL and Opel Omega from VN up.... I think.
Opel Record came in 2 door so they would have imported one and put a dunnydore grille on it. It still doesn't look any better :

That has been sitting there for a while (stuck to the ground with the redback spider webs from the front mudflaps and spoiler) it is probably not roadworthy
Oh well you can't help good luck can you
