Default XR Front??? or TS50 Front???

Hi all, I have for ever and a day been deciding if I were to find a cheap front bar would I prefer an XR or a TS50. Well was not going to be a problem for ages however, I have a good lead on a genuine front end of an XR in silver (same as my wagon). This includes bumper (couple of small cracks easy fix though), lights and bonnet.

Firstly what do you all think this is worth? Lights (Not cracked), bumper, bonnet.

EDIT: Comes with indicators as well. Pretty much it is off a car that has been rear ended the guy bought the wreck for the driveline and has no need for the front end body etc.

Secondly should I go XR or TS50??

Curious to hear what you think.

Genuine bars sell for over 500 to 1000 , But maybe a lil less with damage !!!!!! Thats not including the Lights either or the Indicators

Lights will sell between 100 and 300

With the ts50 kit will look kinda weird with out the skirts or a rear bar, i think a member on here did his own rear bar for his wagon,

I paid $1200 around 4 years ago for bar, lights anfd bonnet for XR stuff (series 2).

I'd go the XR - the plastic will last better than fibreglass.

+1 for the XR,
there was a build thread done with an XR front end conversion on the wagon and it looked really great.

I recently priced up an XR front end conversion. found a S1 bar on ebay 350, lights 300 a side, then needed to find indicators plus painting.

After all it wasn't worth it IMO, but if you can find it at the right price id defiantly choose it over the T.

Ok guys I am definitely keen I think on the XR although I do like the look and simplicity of the TS50 (Standard lights mainly).

I have on numerous occasions looked at Cheif's wagon and at Robjunior's and I keep on changing my mind. However, I think I can get the XR front (Everything needed except painting (It is liquid silver - same as mine), for 800-900 in which case I feel this will sway me that way completely.

For under a grand all up it's a no-brainer. The AU XR is simply the sexiest and sportiest looking front end of any Aussie Ford full stop

Ive seen a couple of AU wagon XR jobbies around, its definatly worth doing. When you get bored of the XR front, you can always change it to a TS.

Really if you go TS50, you'd need side skirts and a rear bar to match. Otherwise they look a bit weird with the front so much closer to the ground than the rest of it (unless you mean T1/T2). XR you can get away without side and rear since it doesn't sit as low. I'd definitely go XR

Contrary to popular misconception, the AU XR for a non-ford lover looks:
a) extremely dated
b) ugly
c) confusing with a 95 celica

and call me a heretic, but i tend to agree. The T2 TS50 is without a doubt the best front end ever put on an AU falcon, and should be reserved for them only imo.

I can't say I've ever heard anyone say the AU XR front looks bad.
Perhaps it's the people you associate with....
Just kidding.

XR fronts do look good on wagons, and I've considered it for mine more than a few times.

However, I like Rhys really like the standard shaped lights.

Either way will look great, but for <1K the XR front looks to be the best all round option.

All the best with your decision.

I fitted an AU2/3 front on my 99 AU Futura wagon a few years ago...obviously didn't need the bonnet, but fitted the matching AU2 XR alloys as well.

All about sales. From memory the EF was the last XR6 wagon to be produced simply because the demand wasn't enough to sustain the production of them. What would make that white wagon even better is a BA XR6T driveline, now that would be a hoot!

Well I think that after reading all of your ideas on this that I would be silly not to go with the XR for the price of 8-9 hundred. I think in the long run I would probably prefer the look of it as it is definitely different to the standard front where as the T looks too similar in some respects (Mainly because of the same lights). However, the main thing I like is that the XR is not as bulky as the T's are.

So plan is to get onto this guy tomorrow and sort try and finalise things. I will let you know how i go.

Thanks for all your comments, Rhys

Just adding to this...I decided to do this conversion after seeing another wagon with an AU1 XR front and aftermarket alloys and thought it looked ok...turns out that after speaking to the owner, he bought it from Metro Ford in Brisbane already converted.
They made 12 wagons at the end of AU1 to help get them out the door, and they called them an "XRS"...each car having a special vinyl decal that was designed by a local signwriting company and placed on the front guards and tailgate in the same place as the XR6 badges were on the sedans.
I liked the AU2 front and wheels better than the AU1, so I fitted those and made up my own "XRS" badges out of the genuine XR8 badge to give it more of a factory look...

Good to see you're going ahead with this Rhys...it'll look great

Well that certainly is rather interesting to know.

On another note i have confirmed the XR Front is definitely not a series 1 it is a 2/3. I have been told there are a couple of cracks however from the photos i have so far seen I can not see them. Just waiting on photos that show the cracks and then i can talk final $$$'s and hopefully have an XR front end very very soon. It will then give me something more to do once exams are over
