Default Which way from Warwick to Gold Coast??

Im driving from SA to Oxenford on the Gold Coast next week and Im wondering whats the best way to get there from Warwick.
Travelmate is telling me to go via Ipswich / Loganholme, but is there a shortcut thru Beaudesert? It looks more direct.

Go to Cunninghams gap, down past Willowbank, follow it past Ipswich, turn off that road when you get to Logan Motorway, it exits on the left hand side. Once on the Logan motorway, follow it till it merges with the Pacific Motorway, and your done.
Only one exit, and its a nice drive. There are two tolls, $1.20 and $2.00.
I drive this route once a fortnight, and its not to bad of a drive.

Thats the way Travelmate suggest, so Im assuming the road thru Boonah, Beaudesert and Witheren is a bit of a goat track? I just had a look and its only 20km shorter, but takes 2 minutes more.
Whats the go with the tolls? How do I pay? We don't have those in SA.

Just pay when you rock up to the booth.

Boonah/Beaudesert is pretty boring to be honest. I'd go the way The Monty suggested.

i normally go through beaudesert. not that windy and maintaining the 100km/h speed limit is pretty easy for the bulk of it.

turn off is just after aratula. follow the tourist drive signs.

going ipswich, logan and pacific motorways is probably a bit less hassle but if you come in during peak hour it will be quite a bit longer.

Good point. But still if you hit it at the right time it's a breeze getting through there.

I'm with prydey. I'd go Boonah/Beaudesert/Tamborine. Bit more scenic and less traffic, especially compared to peak hour on the hellhole that is the Ipswich Motorway. Yeah as of last weekend bogan m/way exit was on the right hand side again (stupid roadworks).

Yeah it is, when I wrote it, I was thinking, whats the opposite of the usual exit....Left, lol. Its changed from right to left and now back to right again, but it is very well signposted.

Depending on when your looking at coming up. The Logan interchange will be changing again on the weekend of the 13/9. To what configuration who knows. Living in Ipswich and travelling every day to brisbane. I would recommend the road thru Boonah and Beaudesert then thru to the coast. Might be a bit longer but a lot less hassle free. the last time I went along this road at the begining of the year it was in pretty good nik. Also if you have abit of time a drive up Mt tamborine is quite well worth it. Safe driving.

stick to the main road at that time of day it shouldnt be too busy anyway. Cunninghams Gap is an eye opener the first time you go through, esp as we did towing a covered tandem trailer. First time we went was by plane second time we drove. Wouldnt fly again as it is an easy 2 day drive which on gas was cheaper than flying the four of us and we had our car then instead of a hire car.

Check out the travel planner on www.racq.com.au
it will give your the route to take

Being a Warwick person and worked on the Gold coast, that was the way i use to go.

OK, now Im really confused!!

We are actually staying in Goondiwindi the night before, and then travelling to Oxenford. Some of the travel planners are saying to go thru Toowoomba instead of Warwick - d'oh!!!

^^^^ Maybe your perameters should be shortest or quickest as opposed to prettiest. Nothing like being on a 10,000 strong forum and asking for directions. Get 10,000 differing ways to go. Personally I never get lost, theres always someone telling me where to go.

Go via ipswich motor way / logan motor way.

The boonah / beaudesert way looks shorter, but it actually takes longer because of the roads..

Theres 2 tolls on the logan motorway, about 4 bucks worth if i remember correctly (etoll does it for me )

from goondi, there's very little difference between going via warwick or going via toowoomba and if you ask me, going through toowoomba is a much better highway than the cunningham hwy.

i still believe its quicker through beadesert/nerang.

I live exactly where you are trying to get to, I go out to Warwick sometimes, out to Beaudesert quite a bit etc, and personally I much prefer going out the Nerang/Beaudesert/Boonah way.
The Logan and Ipswich motorways are a nightmare in the mornings and afternoons at peak times as the Ipswich motorway is the ONLY access for every motorist/truckie/public transport vehicle coming from Ipswich or further west heading back East to Logan and the Brisbane Burbs. and also all traffic coming from the other way which is Basically feeding out of Brisbane and all its suburbs. This main arterial road is the only road leading east and west in and out of Bris and Ipswich areas and is a shocking road which has many accidents and traffic delays in busy times and thats before you take into account all the roadworks. Also going via toowoomba isnt any better option as you still have to use the Ipswich and Logan motorways.

Normally I'd agree with you, however he is leaving from Gundi that morning
& reckons on being in this area around 1pm - I reckon Ipswich - Logan Motorways......

Mate I have made that trip probably twelve billion times and I absolutley recommend going through Toowoomba to get to the Gold Coast.

An added bonus is that the stretch of road between Gundy and Milmerran is a 110 zone, which the cops leave you well alone on.
