Default Imported Race Engines

I wanted to share this as I have read horror stories about engine purchases from America.
But there are honest sellers around also so don't get disalusioned.

I purchased a used C3 RYR ford 357 cube Nascar Engine that had 800
race miles on it.
I have clocked 15000 klm on this engine and have pulled it for a refresh
as the roller lifters are now shagged.( Bear in mind v8 supercar teams replace there jesel roller lifter after 2000 race klms at $ 5000 a set)
I only need to replace the cam and lifters and lifter sleeves as a roller dragged on the camshaft. ( My fault for not checking roller lifters more regularly). Now using Crower Enduramax solid bush lifter.
Cam shaft is 720 lift at valve with 1.8 to 1 rocker

The engine is everything it should be and more. I really cant believe
how good a condition this engine still is and is loaded with the best of the best.
CARR Rod bolts
Lentz rods
Custom CP pistons
55mm roller cam
R451 svo block
Gas ported pistons
Diamond rings with casidium coated wrist pins
Sony Bryant crank
Titanium valve train
Jesel Mowhawk rockers
BLAH BLAH BLAH.

The machining in the block alone would cost $ 10000 here.
Here is a picture of the pistons and also a fitting that sprays oil to the timing chain via the front main bearing.

These engines are a bargain.
Any one who says you could only get 5000 klms on the street from
a ex nascar engine is full of ****

One of the pictures below shows the oil sprayer on to timing chain
which is feed from the front main bearing.
The other pics are the CARR rod bolts, lentz rods and CP custom pistons with extensive machining for weight reduction.
Fortunately not all your foreign trading can be a bad experience.

Engine makes 760 hp & 8000rpm and 545 ft/lb with a out of the box single 830 cfm nascar spec holley

Used RYR engines are a bargain! The quality of machining you will not find in Oz and the parts are the best you can get. What's not to like?

You haven't seen the work RYR put into a block etc. The std here is marginal at best.

Nascar engines, Indianapolis, Talladega, Daytona, etc, rev up to 9800 rpm, sometimes more, and do it for 500 miles.
I've often thought how cool it would be to have one in a daily. I'd like to see the internals of a F1 motor though. From what I've heard, mind boggling.

No doubt Yates do nice work. But to say it's not possible to machine blocks to that standard here is stretching it a bit.

Plus they retail for close to $30K USD. Convert that to AUD plus shipping and you have a fair budget for some nice hardware and machining here.

Cup engines used to rev to 10,500+, quite something when you look at the weight and composition of the internals.

Seen more junk engines from USA than good ones . One very surprising recently .

Big call on quality of machine work . Sorry i'm with Chris i disagree . Aussie stuff can be up there with the best of them any day

One U.S shop i've visted personally a few times , does some good work . But when i looked around had some Procomp junk on the shelves . Kind of ruined all the good i thought of them .

Since ford teams have moved over to the fr9 platform , there should be heaps of obsolete c3 d3 a3 heads and valve train, blocks, cranks, rods, ect ect.

for sprint cars this puts all the obsolete cup and restrictor plate parts to good use.http://www.engineswapdepot.com/?p=1487

even the way they hone the bores they would set the engine up with torque plate then pump in hot pressurised water, to simulate the race conditions and try and get every little last hp to win

These engines are a physicists nightmare.
