Default Winternats 2006

I cant believe there isnt a thread about Winternats 2006!?!?!

Its happening this weekend, i'm going on Sunday and I CANT WAIT!!!!!

Only issue could be weather. Im checking the Brisbane weather reports almost hourly in the lead up! Apparently Sunday has rain clearing. So hopefully its just a few showers in the morning - not enough to delay the timetable and it all comes good for a great day of finals.

Anyone from here going?

Coupsta

Hey has anyone been out there today (Saturday)??

The schedule has copped a hammering coz of the weather.

What are they likely to do? They will still need to finish qualifying from today wont they?

So they might hold qualifying on Sunday, and push finals back to Monday maybe??

A few years ago iirc they had rain delays, but due to the interstate competitors having to travel home the meeting was not extended to the monday :(

There are a handfull of us planning to head out from the FPV and XR owners club. See thread http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=49973.

We are in the same boat waiting for a phone call in the morning seeing what it looks like out there.

There are updates available here -
http://www.willowbank-raceway.com.au...2006/index.htm

Looks like tommorrow will still be all go - they have just had to reduce some qualifying for some brackets.

Oh well. If anything it will mean tommorrow will be pretty huge. Cmon weather gods - please smile upon us with sunshine.

Rob Campisi went 7.13 at 200mph in the Cortina.

RDP Steve didn't have the Ute there, he was driving the Orange Torana with too much gas.

The rain on Saturday was e but what can you do? Jai Schluter went 9.73 with the big orange Coupe but just got pipped at the post (3-thou) in first round of Super Stock.

This explains what happened on that wild ride.

After getting off the line strongly, Shepherd's engine detonated (due to a loose wire that managed to turn the engine off and then back on - and that did the damage) which saw the car head towards the outer wall, but luck saw
him avoid contact.

"It was a close call there and I don't know how I managed to avoid contact with the wall, but one thing is for sure, I'm thanking my lucky stars,"
reflected Shepherd when explaining his scary moment.

"When it corrected itself I pulled out the parachutes to stabilise everything and coasted towards the finish line, only to have Luke (Shepherd) who had also suffered engine failure coast past me and take the win.
