The answers you get are all going to depend on wether the person in question does heaps of highway driving or heaps of city driving, or a mixture of both. Also depends on tank size and driving style and even temperature. There is just so many variables it makes comparisons kind of hard.

Hmm
BA XR6 - About 400 around town, not much highway driving and only gets driven every few weeks, its not a daily driver. Best ive gotten was probarly 500 max. 68 Litre tank. BA II XLS - About 500 around town and probarly 700 on highways, this car is only around town during the week then some out of town cruisin on the weekends.. My dad is driving it at the moment as his Territory is broken and the average has gone way up, hes a bit of a hoon. 84 litre tank to.

2003 BA XR6 I get about 520km/tank. 18ks a day to and from work. Occasionally it gets to go for a longer run, but not too often.
With my old XD I had to run it on premium with that lead replacement stuff, and only ever got about 200ks to a tank the same size as the BA.

I own a AU Fairmont and get about 425-500 km's to a tank
Mostly with quick trips in moderate traffic Inner suburb -> Melbourne (10-15km trip, and back again), and the 2 or 3 trips per week (also with return trip) from Inner suburb -> Outer suburb (same side of town) -> Melbourne (also moderate traffic). Confused? Good! Summary: Fuel consumption: Good. Pretty good, all things considered. |

Got a 1996 EL GLi (6 cyl of course) and it depends. If I drove purely highway at 100 km/h, easily get 800 km per tank. In an average week of driving which is a combination of 100 km/h highway driving and stop-start traffic, I'll get about 450-500 km per tank, even when I'm giving it a bit of stick. Other days I can drive like a grandma and get really ИИИИhouse fuel efficiency. Don't know why that is.

BA XR8 Ute, been getting around the 480 - 550km per tank with around the town driving (11.5 - 13 L/100), distance travelling i'll get 10 - 11 L/100 (have only been on one long distance trip since i've had the XR8, and that was the QLD along the pacific highway, 60% of the roads are a slow traffic fest) that equates to around the 700km before a fuel stop I guess if I ran it low.

AU series 1, chip, extractrors, BA CAI, Premuim fuel, highway running aircon on always, mostly 110km 2150rpm in cruise contol, 80L tank - 780-820km per fill depending on the day, this car just loves the highway and around down would do well too if I didn't like the note from the exhaust so much.

AU Series 1, 6 cyl auto with the only mod being a TS50 snorkle. That will see between 850-880km before looking for a servo on the highway.
As for the BA MKII XR8 auto, well, I was getting roughly 200km per tank, then it was flashed by Ford, took it back out on a trip, was surprised that I did 550km and used 56lt of PULP (BP Ultimate) It has just done 3,000km so still waiting for it to free up some more. : |
