im considering wether to put one in my ef xr6.
are they accurate or does that depend on when my car was tuned last? if my car wasnt optioned with one is it just plug and play or do i have to wire it up to my speedo and fuel regulator or anything stupid like that?

Yes I've installed a Trip Computer into my EB. They seem to be pretty accurate, the Range is also pretty much spot on, average L/100km seems about right at 12L ATM, (by the way I had it down to 11.5L/100km last week.)
You will have to wire it up tho, not that hard to do with a wiring diagram. Well worth installing one I reakon. Quote:

i installed one myself into the ED. is just nice to have a time and day and date. i hardly use the other features because the only other feature i wanted, distance to empty, is totally full of crap. i can go 200kms with the needle touching the red? pffft.

I have one in the EA (came with one from the factory, but I replaced it with a later EBII one). It's great. I couldn't live without it.

Mines ******, not accurate one bit. especially on a full tank. I can loose over 60 kms of fuel going from the servo to the air pump. Jumps all over the place and even when fuel is under 80kms, i still get about 150km out of it. Says im averaging 18l per 100km, driving slow in wet....... :

I find mine to be accurate. You must remember though the fuel to empty will adjust itself depentant on how spirited your driving is :P
Im sure they have them on ebay but you would have to find a repuatable dealer I would think to get one from. I was lucky enough ot get mine from a forum member. Keep an eye out in the For Sale section ;) |

i've got one, but it came standard with the ED (GHia) it's a good way to get an exact speedo readout, over the needle, i've tested it many times at speed check points and only ever seems to be 1-2 km out as opposed to 4-6 km out with the needle. It's also great at telling you your under 80km worth of petty left (with the lovely Beeeeeping sound)

my L/100km is pretty accurate i think.
but my distance to empty is at least 200-300km to much i get just over 400km to a tank. but when iv got 1/4 of a tank left it is still telling me i could go 200-300km anyone know why that could be? and yes the trip computer is supposed to beep when you leave your headlights on. thats one of the main features i love about it. |

Mothernature yes they are supposed to beep when you leave your lights on when the car is off. When it beeped at me the first time for leaving my lights on I had no idea what was going on! Took me a second to realize my lights were still on!

Shaun, maybe the reason it hasn't started in that time is the "EAitis" that got passed on from Scotty's car
