Default Why is Commodore still outselling Falcon??

Read the april sales figures even with the territory numbers included the commodore is still outselling the falcon any thoughts on why??? Idve thought that the BF update would have made up some of the sales gap but it seems not.

Maybe with the new VE coming up soon the Commodores are selling for a good price to fleet customers, as well as the public

I would put it down to brand loyalty, Holden has a heap of fans that will stick with them regardless of Ford having the better package.

it all comes down to heavy discounting and giving companys huge befitits for company cars, and their stupid "aussie" marketing, to give the impression that holdens are pure aussie cars

Maybe because our dealerships are turning away potential buyers with shabby sale techniques, or they are Ford owners that have been lost because of pathetic after sales service.

I think its brand loyalty also. Ford let it go for far too long with the holden is australian. For christ sake they made a song about it, football meat pies, kangaroos and Holden Cars.

But the smart know holden is just as american as ford. They dug their own grave im araid.

spot on there.
Hard enough to convince a friend who prefers Holden to buy Ford, when he finally goes down to a dealer for a test drive he is treated like crap, waits 1hr only to be told there isn't a car to be tested.

Bingo

Ford. You after sales service is utterly pathetic. I will not have my car service at a ford dealer due to incompetent 18yo apprentices who away seem to stuff your car one way or another... And I cringe when I have to take my car back for a warranty repair..... I last had my gear nob replace and it took 3, yes 3 visits to get it all most right. I ended up fixing the bloody thing myself. And guess what, I am not QUALITY TRAINED Ford technician, Yet I am caplable of doing a better job then your experts technicians. :

Its all a personal choice really, some people like Commodores more then Falcons, some people dont.

Holden IMO has the stronger fanbase and its been like that for a longtime.

why does it matter? Do you need to be driving the 'best selling' car in order to be happy? People buy lower-quality products all the time.

example: Motorola is the biggest selling brand of mobile phone in the world. Do I have one? Hell No! I used to, until I realised how rubbish it was (frequent software faults, resetting itself for no reason, and THE worst charging port ever designed).

I couln't care less if the Commodore was outselling the Falcon 10 to 1.

If you need to have hoardes of other people own the same things as you in order for you to feel safe/important/happy/whatever, then your probably going to have a dissatisfying life.

Ford are battling popular Aussie culture, in my younger days, everything was Holden, only in the last few years have they been able to make an impression.

Maybe because of this, http://www.holdencampaign.com.au/svz/SVZ_content.html

Seems like a good deal, expect it's a commodore.

Fleet sales has been flagged as the main reason, Brand loyalty would be a major hurdle, but Holden simply discount further to fleets, its also a reason why although they sell allot of cars they can't make a healthy profit.
You'll probably find if they could pull out the private sales the Falcon would out sell the Commodore.

There's a whole factor of things and I would just be repeating everything else was saying. But I'll tell you I agree 100% with the Ford service guys, Just dropped the car off to be serviced tomorrow (start work at 6) and there just so crap at treating the customer properly, I probably will get the next service at a decent mechanic but I had warranty issues I need fixed.

On a good note all the falcons for June and July have been sold in a big fleet deal.

I read an article about 12 months ago that said that no matter how many cars Ford make their factory sin't capable of churning out as many as Holdaewoo.

Brand loyalty and holden giving better fleet discounts.

Also isn't the ford factory producing as many cars is it can at the moment, dealers seem to be selling for than they can get there hands on.

Ive owned more commodores (company cars) than Falcons and believe me Holden's service is no better than Fords... in fact id say its worse, unless something miraculous has happened in the past 5 years.

i know of half a dozen people who have bought a commodore (whether GMH or HSV) in the last 12 months. not one even test drove a falcon. i asked why and the response was pretty much the same from all of them "it's a Ford".
then i know of a few that did cross the line and test drive the BA and now own them, in particular from HSV to FPV.
i wouldn't worry about outselling commodore, i would look more at the ground BA made up from AU.

We have a VY Series 2 exec wagon and it is a good car, its done 114,000k's and drives realy good, no brake shudder or diff whine, doesnt use oil, it gets 8.5 litres per 100k's on the highway.
They appeal more to the private buyer and the woman of the family as they appear smaller and easier to park etc.....
My 2 cents worth, they are both good cars, i preferred a falcon and the Mrs wanted a Commodore, she won !!!

Why is Commodore still outselling Falcon??

Because bogans continue to breed and their bad habits are passed to the next generation.

Lol only joking as others have said brand loyalty Holden has a huge dedicated one eyed fan base that love their holdens as much as we love our fords.

Being a ford fan I wouldn’t buy a Holden because they brought out a superior model (not likely), why should they.

Holden can produce more cars per year than ford can when they are under the pump.

Not only that, but in recent decades, ford's performance image was canned in favour of the EFI 6 in the XE while holden continued its V8.

Marketing plays a big part in it too, as holden is always shown to be a performance brand.

What performance did ford have in the 80's? The EFI 6 S Pac XF....... that was it.

By the time ford realised what a mistake they made dropping the V8 in 1991, Holden had its HSV range and it cemented its sales force.

No doubt the BA and BF have helped regain ford's youthful image like it had in the 60's and 70's, but the fact is, they are so far behind, it will take another decade to catch up.

I must be one of the lucky ones. My dealer and his service team are second to none. They bend over backwards, always go the extra mile, are very reasonably priced, and make me feel like a valued customer everytime. I'm even thinking of getting my wife's non-ford serviced there as well.

They have me as a customer for life, for new cars and service.
