Australia is in the grip of a heat wave which is entirely the fault of man made global warming, because we've never ever had heat waves in Australia before. Those awesomely hot and humid periods that I remember dragging on for weeks during my 48 years of existence must have been due to something entirely different back then. I have a theory that may not be accepted in some circles as it is fairly radical... You ready for this?
Maybe the heat waves are due to a natural weather cycle! Makes you think, doesn't it... |

Always amused by people who act all shocked when it's hot in summer...in Australia...the hottest, flattest, second driest (Antarctica is "driest" technically) continent on Earth.

Whenever things go wrong like someone being late to a social gathering or downloaded movies not working I like to blame global warming because people always jump on their high horse about it.
It doesn't seem any more ridiculous to me than global warming being the culprit for a 36 degree day in summer though.

I think the People in China would love to hear the theory on how Global warming is giving them their coldest Winter for 30 years!

I havent seen anything in the media about climate change during this heat wave to be honest... however a heat wave of this size which has crossed the country is pretty rare.
The last two yrs we actually had a rain season up here in the north... so far we have had 3 days of rains in december and thats it, its well below average again. Not even one cyclone so far!

well I blame daylight saving for the 50 degree days we have here.......that extra hour can only be adding to the heat!

Back then our "sunblock" of choice was babyoil. And of course the "mighty" Maribyrnong river floods in 1974 (and the biggest ever in 1906) were also just imaginary.. Black Friday in 1939, where 5,000,000 acres (that's FIVE million) went up in flames was probably caused by man's industrialisation too?

Climate change not responsible eh?
Easy to have an opinion until you see the consequences first hand. Tasmania had the hottest day EVER recorded, I know, I was there in the evacuation center at Nubeena with thousands of others with fires on both sides of us. The locals there will tell you what they think of climate change denial. |

Or 1813, 1713, 1613.......... Earth is a little bit older than 200 years. Another point: How many heat waves in Tasmania before people started putting solar panels on their roof? It's the solar power that is causing all these problems.......coal smoke kept us cool by blocking the sun..... |

Yeah, we are heating the cities. 1 million internal combustion engines running in Melbourne every day. More concrete radiating heat than ever. Now lets compare Melbournes temperature to 50 and 100 years ago. Now try that same measurement in Shanghai.
Of course that does not relate to the overall global temperatures. We just measure the urban temperatures and hit the panic button. Get 50 kays out of town and it is a different story. Beat up by enviromentalists who want us to eat and drink our own waste and wear hemp clothing that we can smoke after it wears out.

There's geological evidence of hugely more extreme weather in the past, .........in our short life spans we see climate cycles in days, weeks, months ,years, some astrological cycles that probably effect our weather may occur at 500/10000/ 100000, year intervals, not to mention other things that may have an effect. |

Climate change is a natural cycle. Stone age,ice age ect. Did humans cause global warming?. My opinion no. Did we accelerate it? Slightly. No where near as much as it is made out to be. Cork the cows. It's there fault.

I agree that there is "climate change"... as the weather patterns arent the same here as it was 25/30yrs ago. Determining if "man" is at fault (whether 100%, partially) or none is the big question.
One cant say that destroying the earths rainforests over the past centuaries and digging up all the "good" green areas and turning it into mines, cities etc would not have had an effect.. we wont know in our lifetime however.

I wonder what they called 'Climate Change' back in the 18 and 1900's ...
From Wikipedia..... The Black Friday fires of 13 January 1939, in Victoria, Australia, are considered one of the worst natural bushfires (wildfires) in the world In the days preceding the fires, Melbourne experienced some of its hottest temperatures on record at the time: 43.8 °C on 8 January and 44.7 °C on 10 January. On 13 January, the day of the fires, temperatures reached 45.6 °C Unofficial records show temperatures of around 47 °C (117 °F) were reported on the Black Thursday fires of 6 February 1851 Quote:

Another thing that cracks me up is every reported extreme weather event be it hi or lo temps, floods, bushfires, rainfall, drought, etc, etc has the word SINCE in the opening statement "heaviest rainfall since 1975" "hottest December since 1955" "worst flooding since 1974 " "most destructive cyclone since 1905" etc, etc, etc Who was resposible for those prior and more extreme events ? Cow & sheep farts ?
