Hey all
My woman and I are off to Bali in October, so needless to say we are now in mad rush mode to find a good package deal to do so. Just putting it out there to see if anyone has undertaken such a trip, what it cost, and any potential suggestions as to where to go, how to find cheap flights, whats a good place for a super romantic getaway etc.. Open to other countries also, but would like to keep the budget around 3 grand for the pair of us for 5 nights. We are located in Hobart, taswegianland. Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers |

Cheers for the reply
Planned dates are between 10th and 20th oct this year, and destination isnt too importantant, so long as its easy to get to from the airport, has nice spas and massaging facilities and is close to beach |

$3K budget is easy doable for Bali for 5 nights....
More of your 5* hotels will come in over your budget though |

I took my missus to Bali last year, I got a mate at flight centre to organise it. Cost us 1250 each for 10 nights, flights, transfers, and they organised a local tourist agent to meet us the next day to plan out a couple of things and organise it all for us.
If you want somewhere really nice and not full of party goes we stayed at Bali patra in seminyak it was fantastic and the staff there were fantastic. They have people going around on golf arts doing their job but always smile say hello and offer you a lift. If you would like pm me your email address and I'll send you a couple of pictures of the place Must see things were A mountain tour where you stop at coffee plant plantation, hand wood carving, a artist retreat with the most amazing art work I've ever seen, a hand made silver jewelry shop(can be dangerous if the missus likes some nice bling) also a temple visit and a monkey temple which is the most amazing experiance Bali safari zoo get to do awesome stuff like nurse baby orangatangs, tigers and many other animal Have lots of other things that I loved feel free to pm me if you want some info. Think I've also got the phone number for a couple of drivers that looked after us for the week as well as the tour guide who came to meet us and do anything they could to help

Been to Bali that many times I have lost count , Legion and seminayak are both good getting very busy though these days Tons of Hotels and heaps of night life. Ubud up in the hills is brilliant and quieter worth a visit, But as I am getting old now my favorite place is the Island of lembongan (1 hour boat trip from Bali) less people , less commercialism and quiet and best of all you can hirer a scooter for a day have a Bintang or 2 at every little eatery you pass and then ride back to your hotel without the fear of being runover or hit by another scooter, definately worth a day or two there..

I should have added even though the balinese are wonderful people they are out to make a living and all they can see is dollars signs above your head they will rip you off any chance they get so it will pay to have a fair understanding of what you should pay for certain things and when they ask how many times you've been to Bali (and they will) never never say its your fist time or you will get mobbed.

I was told, you need to be prepared to tell the locals to 'NO go away' in a stern and authoritative tone. Not to fall for the sob stories etc.
