hey guys,
as some of you might of noticed, i have had my ue for sale for quite a while now, before i had it adverised it may of been a bit high, but even t a very rasonable price ( which i am stil loosing considerable money on ) no on wants my ute! i have had one call on it, and one person stop to look at it, its advertised in the trading post, traing post web site, carpoint, and has a big for sale sticker on the back window.. what more can i do ? is it just AU's that are extremely hard to get rid of, or whats the go ? im struggling to wonder why, its a nice lookign ute with lo kays and no mods.... just wondering if anyone has any suggestions ( this could be the wrong place to ask for suggestions, im assuming the " keep the au " banter will be flowing quite freely ) or any advice or even peoples exeriences... cheers guys borry |

buying and selling cars retail is just a losing game there is no way you can expect not to lose heaps of money on a second hand AU. Go to an auction and see what they actually sell for. Not get advertised for. it's called depreciation and ford build heaps into their cars by some of their fleet pricing deals and the market is going against any big expensive to run car at the moment.
it's pretty simple no one wants to buy the ute at the price you want to sell it. utes are easy and quick to sell compared to sedans and wagons. |

how much are you selling it for ? , does it come with rwc ? , is it capable of carrying a tonne ? ... some factors which might be stoping it from selling. Must be missing something in your add or asking way to much , as utes usually go like hot cakes .

Large cars + shocking fuel prices = bad time to sell.
Even 5 years back when I had my ED Fairmont I found it near impossible to sell. I ended up trading it back in for another car and lost a lot.

I think your updated price ($15k) was on the money about 12 months ago.
Now in my opinion the price is probably $12-13K. In all honestly a modded ute has no more value than a stock ute. Especially with 19's, the next set of tyres is not much short the value of the original rims + tyres. Having said that, if this ute was for sale at your original price 7 months ago, it would be sitting in my garage. Daniel.

It's the white wheels that're turning people off. Plus 19s on a ute means load carrying capacity is about 300kg. Put the stockys back on, advertise it for $13500 and it will sell for that, maybe a bit less. You could then sell the 19s separately for around $1500 to $2000.

13000..... losing money sucks, i always knew you lose money on cars, just sucks when it actually comes time to count the money you are loosing..
14 000 for the ute, and 1700 for the wheels and i would be out of the proverbial poo financially, well, ill break even in terms of loan payout, which even after spendin money on rolling stock, i would be happy with. |

Thought about selling the Au a couple of times and thought nah stuff its just more money to spent once the cam and the T5 goes in i think ill be a happy camper.
As for glasse's guide and the redbook i think they are croc of S*** coming from people that havent owned that car or looked after the car that they value then how can a car that came out in 1971 at $4500 and now be worth $150000+ we all have theories but i have my own you have rocks in youre head to pay more than $60000 for a car that will devalue as soon as it comes off the the showroom floor.

Don't say NOT NEGOTIABLE.... its just rude....
If you want $15k for it, put the stockies back on, put in a stock radio and put it on gas... being on gas will appeal to a broader market. A sceond hand gas conversion won't cost too much... Then advertise the option to also buy with after market stereo, and mags (as seperate options) But bare in mind, I got my car jan last year for $15200, AU3 with 36,000 kms on it....

I had my AU advertised in Trading Post and Carpoint and didn't get a reply. I put it in carsales.com.au later and got several replies and sold it from that site within 2 weeks.
And it only costs around $10-$15 ! |

Looks like a 13000 dollars ute with all the kit on to me. Sad but true in the second hand market. I brought a brand new ba ute optioned up with a heap of goodies for 34,000 dollars and sold it 12 months later for 18,500 with 50,000 kays. Was a huge hit but l expected that buying new cars and if you dont your kidding yourself.

Borry you are a retail punter mate and you have to accept that cars cost money to own and its called depreciation. There isn't a falcon made in the last 10 years that won't cost you more in depreciation than it will in repairs as they are cheap to fix and expensive to sell.
Just get over it and put it up at a sensible price and it will sell utes are sought after. |
