Got my issue in the mail today and not a bad issue.
Sorry guys but the VE SS Manual won. The performance figures are bloody impressive for the money especially compared to the auto typhoon. Performance figures are: Manual SS 0-100: 5.2 400m: 13.4@174.9 Oran Park Track Time: 36.8 Compared to the Auto Typhoon. 0-100:5.4 400m: 13.5@175.1 Oran Park Time: 36.5 XR6T Auto 0-100:6.0 400m: 14.2@169.1 Oran Park Time: 37.4 Audi RS4 0-100:4.93 400m: 13.0@178.1 Oran Park Time: 36.40 And a real performer is the Mazda3 MPS. Bloody impressive. 0-100:6.2 400m: 14.3@166.8 Oran Park Track Time: 37.4 |

impressive figures for the phoon and manual SS, will be interesting to see what the R8/GTS can do. Disappointed in the RS4, the wrap it got in MOTOR a couple of months ago made it sound like a supercar beater, but to only be .10 seconds faster then the typhoon I am very surprised.
can't wait to get my copy. |

Bang For Your Bucks
Well done to GMH no suprise the VE is the flaver of the month, impressive 1/4 times for the SS will be interisted to see if owners can match it, we know the F6 is good for a High 12 stock, but atleast 13.5 is better than 13.9 they usually get. |

Guys XA-Coupe needs a hug ... 1 ... 2 ... 3... BIG HUG : lol only teasing mate. BUT this 6l V8 really should be smashing the boss 290 ... i think its time ford either increases the rwkw in the V8's or brings out an 6l V8 to match ... but how sexy is a 6l V8 and its from like a cobra or corvette ... i don't pay attention to yank tanks. especially GM :gren: |

if ford were smart they would get those ford racing 5.0 cammer motors happening in their xr8 and the mustang race versions in the fpv's or even the ford gt 5.4 supercharged bastard in the gtp. the ford gt motor is virtually identical to our motors except for a dry sump setup (easily fixed) and an alloy block.

Very impressive times from the SS and MPS. I might have to buy this issue.

For a mid $45k car the VE SS is a great buy for V8 fans. Well done to Holden.
As for the Mazda, also very impressive but bang for buck I would still go the XR5T. Looks better, sounds better, much cheaper and only a tad slower from all reports. The one I drove the other day still has me very impressed.

13.5 for the typhoon, I reckon Mauz may have seen a stocky 1/2 a second quicker than that!

there is always a way around emissions on race motors with all this efi stuff that is flying around, look at the ls1 motors a quick remapp gets you 300+kw (flywheel) and it doesnt meet emissions after that

the figures are quick, but a tenth over the qaurter is not huge and the typhoon was quicker around the track, wouldnt call a huge margin and perhaps against a manual henry it have been different.

Hate to say it, but I can't see a fix from Ford coming soon. The BOSS is too restricted by its long stroke architecture to allow for much OEM improvement, and even if Ford was to go all out and do something amazing Holden just have to stick in the 7.0L they have sitting on ice and the staus quo is maintained. Don't know about the Hurricane engine. If Ford hasn't even decided to put it into production yet it clearly won't make it into Orion for the March 2008 release. |

it seems holden are the king of V8's, i mean thier SS is eating our FPV's, so i can only imagin wot the HSV's would do! I love ford and always will, but all the HSV products always seem that much more special impressive then FPV's cars! Ford need to do somthing more radical with the entire design!

If you like to mod your car for an easy 350rwkw and run a low 11 the 6T's are still a good buy..
