Any confermation on the power output for the 2013 HSV and will it be supercharged?
Speculation a 410kw supercharged 6.2L, 0 - 100 in 4 seconds. What will FPV do, how much more can they push the FPV range and will Ford respond? |

OR As the F series GTS will have basically the same engine as the current with the LT1 in 2014 probably not much at all. |

I've only seen references to the LSA going into GTS, that's it. I've also seen references that the GenV won't be going in at VF launch.

I seriously doubt it would have those specs. They only need to match if only slightly exceed FPV to get an upper hand so no point going overkill which for the $ it would be.

Whatever they bring out FPV won't have to do much to have more power as all of them are detuned from factory.
Different air filter and tune - see ya HSV

Add an intercooler, increase the boost and FPV will have 400 Kw Pity the driveline won't cope with that .

Not only that, but how much is it going to take to get these 1800kg monsters to 100kph any quicker than they do now? The power war is over imo. They now need to address other areas.

HSV have some good things going on. Their R&D is fantastic given the guidelines they are bound to. Their product is stepping up.

I imagine the OP scored his info from wheels, motor or somewhere similar. It will not have 410kw, the new Corvette will receive that tune and it may even crack a 4 sec 0-100. The sheer amount of power it would take to propel a 1800kg GTS to 100kmh in 4 secs would be immense, more than 410kw that's for sure...............

the NSW police special R spec is 406 RWKW with just injectors and a tune and that was after being told to be conservative so Ford have plenty to play with

Guys this thread is about HSV 2013 models.
Was at a BBQ today a mechanical insurance assessor told me he was told that HSV will have a Super Charged vehicle in the next line-up, how reliable is the info only time will tell.

6.2l supercharge will be for the 'halo' model, OP is on the money power wise depending on marketing it will be circa 400kw.

I think a 6.2L S/C engine would be awsome to drive.. Even if it is in a holden.

There was a time when all FPV's got special firmer bolstering in the seats and chunky steering wheels for example, people have noticed the deletion of these things. Last edited by Rodge; 22-12-2012 at 08:29 AM. |

Agreed spoolman....
Something to think about to is, Ford now control & own everything about the former FPV, so I think there will pretty big changes comming along in the way Ford handle there performance models. If holden bump there 6.2 up to 400kw [which I doubt] Ford wont follow suit. IMO.. Ford will change what FPV did & how they did it, for the better, To be frank I think FPV were to intersted in their bottom line, & were not interested in the product Ford just sold FPV the cars & FPV did the as little as possable to make as much as possable.[again IMO] Ford wont do that as they will be able to do the same job "or better" for less money which will be plowed back into the product.

Exactly, otherwise it will just be HSV and FPV owners down the pub, boasting whose driveline blew up faster under warranty. Mine blew the diff apart in 3.2 seconds! Yeah well my transmission went into limp home mode in 3!

Sure the FPV's will benefit from improvements and equipment upgrades from the donor car, but really what else do Ford need to do? Add RSPEC at some point as standard and maybe throw a XR8 badge on the GS, so they can lower its price if the new Chrysler 300 or VF SS-V starts to hurt sales. Add a new stripe package if everyone is bored with the current one and maybe finish off any half done body kit Prodrive was working on for the 2014 Falcon if such a thing exists (presumably it does). That will see three or four years out. I would be very surprised if Ford doing anything at all with the power outputs of the cars at this point. The money has been spent and they are quick enough as it is. For those who want an FPV they will buy them with a minor refresh (nothing to expensive) and as long as sales trickle along for a few years to keep the halo car going with minimal extra cost to Ford.... well job done. As for plowing any money saved by Ford over a joint Prodrive/Ford approach back into the FPV side of operations. Highly unlikely in my opinion. We can all speculate post 2016, but the fact is that the FG series is closer to the end of its model life, then the beginning. Sales of all FG's have fallen off a cliff, so right now its about getting maximum return on the money spent and on any money to be spent. That is consistent with what Ford Australia has historically done too. Last edited by DanielXR8; 22-12-2012 at 10:08 AM. |

Yeah fully agree. Ford will do a better job IMO than FPV have done.
But there isnt any need for huge changes to the current line up. Maybe bump the GT 335 up to 351, only for retro reasons. Not a big deal. Rspec an option on all models. Drop GTE Drop GS line up should go XR6 base model no Rspec XR6 T Rspec option XR8 315 Rspec option F6 sedan & F6 ute standard with Rspec GT 351 sedan & Persuit standard with Rspec Theres plenty of choice there & price accordingly. Simplify the whole range.IMO After all Ford own the lot now..

How about:
Sit back and see what happens in 2013 instead of running around like a headless chook doing a bogan version of the Mayan HSV calendar...... The only things I am sure of are: 1) HSV will make a new car that will set off the usual suspects in yet another Ford hating frenzy. 2) Regardless of what Ford make the same usual suspects will not buy one. 3) The forum will be filled with the usual dribble of how everything is wrong. |
