Lightbulb Report On E85 In A Supercharged Silverado!

G'day mates,
I found a full report on the development of a dedicated E85 truck for participation in the 2000 Ethanol Vehicle Challenge.
The vehicle used was a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado.

I think this pretty comprensive report, with pictures, will be of interest to you blokes who love nothing better than opening the bonnet and rearranging things, playing with the carbie, turbo, and jets/injectors under the hood.

Report Arrangement

The 2000 EVC utilized the same vehicle as the 1999 EVC, so the strategy was to refine the 1999 vehicle, building upon the knowledge gained in the previous competition. As is described in the paper "The UTEP E85 Chevrolet Silverado," (integrated in this final report package) improvements from the 1999 to 2000 vehicle include updated multiple spark ignition and on-demand supercharger systems, an experimentally-optimized air injection system, and student developed on-board E85 distillation system with a "piggyback" timing circuit controller. The following sections include photographs describing the events leading to the 2000 EVC, the technical paper submitted for the 2000 EVC which describes the vehicle conversion process, and the results of the 2000 EVC. Finally, copies of the quarterly progress reports are included.

The full report (with pictures) makes great reading and can be found at:

It will be interesting to read what you think about Ethanol + Supercharged Engines...After you read the report and see the pictures. The paint job looks great:-)

Cheers mates... :
