Default Help shipping crank from Florida to Aus

I need help.

I have a SCAT crank sitting in Florida which I want to bring to Perth. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I have tried courier companies but when I put in 12kg I get costs of $500-600.

How can I get this thing sent to me for an economical price?

Thanks

what crank is it, an off the shelf one?
might be worth selling it over there and purchasing one here, as you can purchase one for around that shipping price you got quoted above

Ok you really lost me.... you said you need it shipped from the USA to here??

If it only weights 12kg why didnt you get it posted via normal post?

Id imagine your friend is capable of going to a post office?

Double fibreboard box and plenty of bubble wrap....

Often regular post is the most economical way to bring items in, by surface if there isn't a great rush (and the country offers it).

On a recent trip to Africa I shopped a little too much and overloaded on touristy crap that was bought for nix. Asked DHL / FEDEX etc for the price of a 10kg box sent home and the replies ranged from $360 to $450 USD... yeah.. right.

Culled some crap, wore heaps of clothes at the airport, smiled at the check-in caus each bag was already 2kg over weight (thank God they didn't weigh the carry ons) and got to Hong Kong. Bought more crap there and sent home a 12kg box of old personal camping / travel stuff for something like $34.

Box arrived a few weeks ago just as I sent it, didn't even get opened by customs

$180 for 12kg is about the going rate for economy air... still pricey but not as bad as the specialist goods carriers.
