Hi all I have been looking at all the threads I can find on superchargers at first I thought Y/T and then Harrop.Price being a major factor.But after going through the BPR archives I really want a KB.I am blown away by the way the guys at BPR look after their customers and their passion for KB.So my question is can I start with the no I/C on the KB and add it later when I want more power and can afford it?I am not looking to race it would be street only.I have a BF manual XR8 with headers cats exhaust.Next upgrade 4.11 gears and BPR CAI.Im hoping someone is running something similar and can share their experience.

Going boosted, don't worry about the 4.11's I would put the cash towards the I/C.

Hi Spoolman I thought that too but I read in one of the threads I think it was Agro that it was better to have 4.11 to put the power down

Hi Terry.
To answer your questions, yes you can go Non IC first, then later on upgrade to the full intercooled kit. We have customers who have done this, and then there are others who haven't upgraded at all, and are still happy as with their setup! Regarding diff gears, personally, I wouldn't go to 4.11 with a blown setup, especially if your using it mostly for street duties. My own car run the standard 3.2 gearing for most of it's supercharged life, and only in the last year (because the diff was getting tired) it got the Harrop Tru-trac and we upgraded to 3.7 gearing. This was only done to better suit the drag strip. With the power I was running and the 3.2 gearing I had, nailing the car with 265 rears would break traction at approx 180kph with NO clutch input, that's with just stabbing the right 'GO' peddle! So as others have said above, your better off saving the your diff gear money, and if it were me ,I would put it towards a good clutch setup, because you will need that sooner, rather than later than you think. Hi AGRO thanks for your reply that does make sense about the 4.11gears.Great news on the KB.I will have to focus on clearing off my credit card,but I still want to put on a BPR CAI as soon as I can buy one.

Hi guys just wanted to let you know that I got Paul and the team at Elite to install a BPR CAI and give my XR8 a tune.They got me 243rwkw which I thought was a great result.The sound of the CAI is awsome.The service at Elite is fantastic,Paul even lent me a car so I could take the kids to a movie while they did the job.
Sorry Agro I couldnt help myself.I put in the 4.11 gears.I just had to see what theyre like.I kept the old gears so I can put them back if needed.I will nurse the clutch lol. Saving now for KB. Terry |
