Default KC Laser stalling issue any Ideas welcome

Hi all,

Just thought I would see if anyone had any ideason a couple of issues I have with my 1985 KC laser.

It is an Auto and keeps on stalling when going to stop at intersections etc mainly under braking. I have tried tuning the car (carby model) to proper specs, advancing the timing, increasing the idle and different variations of this all to no avail.
The only way for it not to stall is to stop like an old granny (miles b4 any intersection etc) when doing this it seems to be alright after it has clicked in to first. The other is to keep the revs up and then when stopped take foot of gas and it seems fine.

My thinking is that the auto trans is the prob, so I rang auto trans specialist and they suggested to take off brake booster vaccum and plug the hose and take for a test drive as they seemed to think that it was more likely the prob. Well did that and no difference except for brakes felt like bricks. Any suggestions on what else to look at besides auto trans any thankfully welcomed.

Oh another quick one I went to change dizzy cap and bought the appropriate one etc. But when I went to replace it I found that the dizzy cap and rotor button were Mitsubishi and completely different from what is supposed to be there. So anyone have any Ideas on what dizzy will fit a Kc Laser 1.6 litre???

Thanks

pm vippen he is the most knowlagable laser person I know in this forum

stall problem may not be the auto if the auto is working ok all the rest of the time the stall is probably a fuel or electrical issue

have the fuel filter, plugs, leads, air filter been changed recently ?

mitsubishi and mazda parts are found on fords
If you can ,take the cap off and carry it into the shop where you buy your automotive parts :

did it start doing this all of a sudden? When it stops, does it start straight away or is it a little difficult to start?

Give the throttle body a thorough cleaning. That's my first step whenever I'm asked to fix similar symptoms... I ain't no mechanic but it seems to work a treat nearly everytime.

Also check there's no leaks around the inlet manifold.
