Hey guys, ive only had my P's for about 3 weeks and im noticing how much petrol i use and how often i fill up. I usually put one full tank in it once a week.
Last week i put normal unleaded fuel in her and got 379Km's from the tank. So this week i decided to put in BP Ultimate, costed an extra $6 for the tank but im investigating whether or not i can get more K's from my tank. So my question is, is 379Km's for a full tank in an Auto 97 EL Gli 4.0ltre normal or bad?? My car sits in economy all the time also Thanks Paul |

how u drive it will also effect the economy, ive noticed with highly spirited driving the economy is way down :( but 379k's is quite good for an auto. the real test should be the shell optimax extreme (100 ron) compared to regular unleaded

So BP Ultimate isnt in the same league as shell optimax? It says better fuel economy when using Ultimate is this true?
Also when you get your licence back Scotty? |

bp ultimate is 98ron avaliable everywhere, but optimax extreme is 100ron with 5%ethanol, yes, the magic word, but the closest to us mate, is ferntree gully.
and ive only got 5 days left hoorah, driving legally, i cant wait

379 is bad man. I get nearly 500 every time, "highly spirited" driving or no.

one thing to keep in mind.
the area you do most of your driving in makes a hell of a difference.

I drive to and from work each day which is about 15kms there and back, do abit of cruisen on the weekends, but as Joe mentioned i dont thrash my car so i should be getting more from my tanks. The cars ideling like a dog atm, the car shutters when im sitting at the lights which im guessing isn't too good. I'll have to get a mechanic to look at it because its not really good enough atm.

hmmm, id keep an eye on the cat, altering the cat t fit the extractors could have loosened the guts and now its beginning to fail, causing back pressure. u may start to hear rattling under the car if it is the problem

Annnnnd the e-series club random diagonosis of the month is a blocked cat converter!
380 odd is low, but not that low. If you're really worried about it, do plugs/filters. Clean out the ISC to see if that helps you idle issue. Then perhaps change the oxygen sensors. For god's sake don't go jumping in the deep end and changing the cat! If the cat is blocked you will know about it. |

i get around 350-400 k's from $50, never fill it right up just put $50 in. That's in my EA completly stock. The EB was getting about the same, maybe more like 300-350. So 380 from a full tank is pretty crap, start with the basics as Psycho mentioned.

500km is possible. It all depends on where you live and what driving you're doing.
I'm guessing from your location you're doing a fair bit of driving in hilly areas? That won't be helping. |

Fook me, I run a fairly healthy 5.0 in my ute, with a trailer weighing in excess of 1 ton and more commonly referred to as "the parachute" and still get 330 odd k per tank.....
And my driving style would not be referred to as spirited, it would be more like "raping it" I mean smoking the tyres across intersections with a car trailer and car on the back..... |
