LOL^^ True! If a couple of backyard mechanics can do it easily enough i'm sure a Pro would be able to work out what he's doing.

A mechanic told me that the BTR 4 speed is a steaming pile of do do and he had to have his replaced twice in his EB. A Ford mechanic told me that E-Series cars are notorious for being unreliable and that a their electrics can turn to crap after a oil filter change.
Just tell him to do it or, you'll walk along with your money.

Ultimatums and the mechanic who has possession of your car is not a good idea.
Basically find out exactly what hes proposing. How much are you looing at, and go from there. If its not to your liking take it elsewhere, dont get into a debate about it. Its not real hard to make it run like a dog and say I told you so. CFI to MPI is not a simple in out propostion. If your swapping looms, it should be fine though. So like I said, just ask him what he proposes and cost then ask here. |

Is this mechanic on a long flat straight stretch of road with a tower? Sounds like he saw you comin a long ways off.
If you change looms to model of car, ie: EA MPI loom, all plugs should line up fine. i assume you have the EA MPI ECU etc as well. |

This might be why they say it wont work.
Somewhere in here, numerous times I recall, is reference to fitting ED, EF etc engines to EA's. The common thing I read is use the EA loom and injection setup. It may just be the EF and later Im not certain. |

I have an EF motor in my car with BBM and everything, all the wires lined up I used my EA sensors no problems, the only technical wire change was for the alternator, otherwise it was a piece of cake.
Mine was all MPFI however. CFI is a whole different ball game, swap the looms to MPFI ones and then hey presto all problems solved. Trust me

EA loom will work with ED computer no worries, I assume you are getting 4 speed EA loom to match 4 speed computer and gearbox?
