i only got round to doing the rears with my dad. couldn't be bothered with the fronts so i took her to the mechanic. charged me 100 plus 10 gst and only realised afterwards that i was "getting a really good deal" lol i asked ford, but they were ridiculous with their pricing. i think it was around the 300 mark?
you might want to check the "how to's" on the uk fiesta network. i'm pretty sure there would be a guide on those forums.

from memory, (i did mine about 3 years ago)
loosen the bolt behind the strut, so the strut will 'slip' out of the bottom mount. When I say 'slip', it does need a bit of persuasion Sorry I can't be more exact it was a fair while ago. If you need more advice bring it into my work, I'll have a quick look and be a bit more accurate. PM me and I'll let you know where I'm at.

Changing the front springs is a bit of a challenge unless you are a pretty good mechanic and have a decent array of tools.
I'd suggest you pay someone to do it. If you are determined to remove the strut you need to spread the bottom clamp with the correct sized wedge and wiggle it a lot to get it out. Removing the bolt from the top of the strut is tough unless you have the correct tools. Good luck if you have a crack at it.

...oh, yeah, and you have to get the front suspension set up properly again anyway since the lower springs upset the standard geometry. Either that or you ruin your tyres - dollars down the drain. It's not the coolest thing to do, but pay a professional...
