auii flash tune

Currently have a auii fairmont ghia V8,i believe it is the 175kw engine?
Only mods are a ss induction snokel and a cat back coby exhaust system put on 6 months ago,sounds great but always had the intention of finishing the exhaust off up to the engine.
Anyway managed to find a place in n.z that specilize in performance parts on fords.
So have my car booked in for the following mods.

1. Ceramic Coated extractors with ceramic coated cat replacement pipes
2. Yella Terra cold air box induction with dual entry BMC pod filter
3. SCT X3 power flash

What sort of power gains should i be expecting?

I'd say yeah around the 15rwkw mark

If it's a custom tune and they do a good job, you will notice quite a decent difference

Yep includes a full custom mapped dyno tune

AH then what Sox has estimated will be realistic. The restrictive thing on those 5ltrs is the heads. By all means do as many bolt on's as you can to get the air in and out as fast as possible, but you'll hit a wall until you go for better aftermarket intake manifolds and heads.

Nothing wrong with the old GT40p's. I'd expect a 15-20rwkw increase.

I had the ol HO's on my EBXR8 and they werent ordinary to say the least for flow. If the AU's all had GT40P's thats a crap load better than what I had.

Extremely interested to see how the CAI will work behind a Fairmont style headlight, there is SFA airflow behind there, no gap between headlight and front bar

I wasn't expecting huge gains but it should be a noticeable increase anyway

Its acyually quite cool behind that front headlight, I have the front cut out of my airbox, and you can actually notice quite an increase in power, not huge, but noticeable at least.

I've tried a BA XR8 pod setup before and felt the car was less responsive, 13kw down on power (some of that would have been attributed to the different dynos). Also tried a T3 pod intake with 82mm MAF and had all sorts of trouble with stalling at cold start etc, so for me the stock setup with a XR6T snorkel has proved the most responsive and caused no issue.

Ive had no issues at all, but have felt a power increase (in all 3 au's). Must just be because the 6's are so much better, lol. J/K.

OK cheers, they're the NZ Herrod agents aren't they? When I was in Auckland there were a few dyno tuners up there(a few years back) did you check out http://www.torqueperformance.co.nz/ I think they are in New Lynn area are quoting cheap custom tunes.
I haven't used them but did check out there workshop which had an HSV that the customer wanted supercharged to 1000bhp, gotta be a serious shop. Maybe do some asking around in your own patch.

I forgot to say, it's not the peak power you will notice with the tune. The mid range torque gained is where it is at.

Hey thanks sbcb for the heads up.Yeah did a bit of research finding a place to do the tune,heard very good feedback about isaac performance and they only deal with fords so have decided to go with them and there pricing isn't to far off torque performance

Cheers RG,the guy doing it explained that to me,i do a bit of towing with quite a heavy boat so should help a bit

A bit of progess,extractors and air box got fitted yesterday,tuning starts tomorrow.
Picking it up on friday,best of all i have a 350km drive home back to auckland to enjoy from where i'm getting it done

Car made 213.1 fwkw and 474.4 Nm.
Sounds a lot better too with the new extractors,totally diffferent sound.
Will post dyno sheets shortly and a few pics.
