I thought that's good news until I googled it.
Just a Chevron company rebranding itself. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-12-...rands/11823506

^ Nothing to do with Chevron.
Chevron sold off it’s stake in Caltex Australia back in 2015. Quote:

From wikipedia:
Ampol was a petrol company in Australia. It was first incorporated in 1936 in New South Wales to market petrol in its chain of service stations. In 1995, Ampol merged with Caltex to form Australian Petroleum, which in 1997 became Caltex Australia. In December 2019, Caltex announced that rights holder Chevron Corporation had withdrawn the rights to use the Caltex brand in Australia. Subject to gaining shareholder approval, Caltex Australia proposes to rebrand itself as Ampol.

I've read about ampol coming back to australia and I thought it was driven by woolworths splitting fully from caltex? Like one of them needs a new brand or woolworths leaving the market or something along those lines.

Back when I was young there was ampol, shell, mobil, bp... and golden fleece. Every servo had a mechanic shop too. Last edited by oldel; 10-05-2020 at 07:26 PM. |

Were there ever any FORD racing cars sponsored by AMPOL??
Did a search and found a commodore run by privateer Bob Jones in 1993/94 before caltex took over Ampol. Saturday Sleuthing: Ampol Commodore reborn! |
