panelvan on a concession card is $277. dont know what it costs without.
funnily enough a pano is actually cheaper to rego than a car even though they are long wheel base.

Used to be like that years ago in Qld, Davway. You paid about 30 bucks less if your car was a ute, or pano. Doesn't seem to matter now.
Talked to a guy who had a 5 cyl Audi (?) He said he got great fuel economy, but they only charged him 4 cyl rego. There was no 5 cyl category!

Ok my rego on the rolla is up on March 7, so I have all the figures...

I had to ring around for CTP (Compulsory Third Party) cos the NRMA wanted to charge me $488, and I've been with them for years and years... just cos I only have third party property on my car.

In NSW you can only register for a year, not 6 months or whatever (bugger dammit, crappy NSW).

$200 RTA
$313 AAMI CTP
$33 PINK SLIP
_____
$546

I only get the $313 with AAMI if I pay for my TPP this week - add $145.

Rust cut out of wheel arches - between $1200 and $1500.

Four new tyres - thankfully little 13's at the moment so $59 per corner plus wheel alignment at $60.

God, I need a personal loan to register my fkn car! The prob is, every year it gets closer to not being worth registering even though I love my car to pieces...

Not for long!!! Read an article somewhere (I believe it was on here) saying that pensioners will pay rego but only 50% of it or something.

Whatever the hell we are all paying, it's too much! I just bought my car and the rego is due somewhere in May. Think I'll try to get a personalised plate though if there's something I want that's available! That also costs a bit.

ewww... the dredded rego... Can someone explain to me how come it varies so much? Like from one part of vic to another, or even between the different model cars... i thought they were all the same?

When i had my beetle it was only like 400... but i remember the ef being around 550 or so, and that was a 6. I hate to think of the cost if its more for 8's.

Just a bit under $600 for my XR8 which was $100 dollars cheap than my brothers AU2 Frote in N.S.W. He rang the RTA to ask why & was told that the XR8 was 15kg lighter than the Frote.

$260, which is under my Mum's name. She used to have some 'sole parent benefits' back in the day. She never updated the rego info, but why would you?

last time around on the XD.

Third party property:$348.10 (in Dad's name, with multiple policy discount)
compulsory third party: $577.13
rego fee:$45.00
Motor vehicle tax: $191.00
custom plates fee:$400

Total: $1561.23

This time it's already started out at that, and will only get higher.
For the XR6 so far... (apart from the cost of actually buying the car)

comprehensive insurance: $1489.46
Vehicle transfer fee: $968.00
custom plate transfer fee: $252.00
Issue of standard plates to my old car: $52
CTP renewal: $565.00
Custom plate fee: $400.00

Total: $3726.46
Haven't received the rego renewal yet, so there will be more to come :
And it's due the day before my birthday :gren:

Here is the breakdown for a 6cyl in S.A (for 12 months)

Registration charge $172
Administration Fee $6
Emergency Services Levy $24
Stamp Duty on Ins Policy $60
CTP Ins Premium ex GST $354
GST on CTP Ins Prem $31

= $642 to register a 6cyl for 12 months
(this doesnt include insurance, the insurance mentioned is bodily harm insurance or something)
Anyway, it's a rip off. I'm sure it's the same everywhere, cheaper if you buy 12 months

3 month cost for my EA6 is $172,
3 month cost for my ED8 is $207

ACT is based on weight, and it tends to be more expensive than most:
0-975 $583.85
976 - 1154 $602.85
1155 - 1504 $629.85
1505 - 2504 $732.85

Or if it is a goods carrying vehicle (like a ute):
0 - 975 $583.85
976 - 1154 $776.45
1155 - 1504 $803.45
1505 - 2000 $906.45
2001 - 2504 $1890.40
2505 - 2794 $2061.40
2795 - 4500 $2071.40
