I used to have an XR falcon 500 with a warm 289 and really i loved it, but...........even being a GT i wouldn't be that that keen to buy that one, very surprising to see 23 bidders so far.

What about the nutter that couldn't be bothered at very least throwing a tarp over it when he decided to turn It into a garden ordinate

It was stolen in 68 and recovered in 71 stripped.
Had it been sitting in a paddock for the 3 years and was fairly well rooted at the time and had just been chucked out the back due to lack of interest or a broken heart? People who are really passionate about things do strange stuff when someone else wrecks their gear. Maybe the original owner just didn't want to see it. It always a crack up how the tossers rear their heads with stupid comments and expert advice every time a GT is discussed. The amount of people that have their hand on it now days about GT's make me have absolutely no desire what so ever to own another one. |

Its not that bad. There have been a few cars worse than this that have come come back to be in the top 20/10 in the elite hall at Summernats.

Just chucking a tarp over a car would probably do more harm than good in a lot of cases.

Mate I had a very unique car I tarped for 5 years after a bad injury. When I was able to get to it, the roof had more holes than it had metal. Tarps trap moisture. I will never tarp a car again.

I wouldn't touch it. don't care that its a genuine GT either. would be cheaper too buy a non genuine GT in a lot better nick and build that too a replica. its pretty sad seeing a XR falcon like that. chucking a tarp over it would cause it too rust more as they sweet and cant breath, not that it would of matted seeing the nick its in now. Its sad but that car is completely knacked. people are just going gaa gaa because its a genuine GT. I suppose if you did buy it you could say you owned an original GT. but I personally don't think its worth it

It was a genuine question
I have no reason to doubt your experiences regarding condensation My bother had hi XA gt sedan under a tarp for 4 years before he began restoring it ( he's a panel beater) The wheels & tyres didn't fair all that well and the interior smelt like a fat mans arm pit but none of the panels were any worse off No plenum rust no boot Chanel rust I thought the reduction to UV exposure by having a tarp would help Sure depending where you live would make a difference but I'm surprised at the difference between experiences |
