Default not what i wanted to be doing on a sunday afternoon...

this afternoon, sometime between 3 and 5 my beloved car was broken into... in between the hail and the rain that we have had here in sydney this afternoon...
i cant begin to understand what goes through the heads of these ........ i wont even call them people...
i work my @55 off 6 days a week for these little to come and flog whatever happens to be in my car... which included approx 100 cash, a 1200 dollar gps unit, which was in the glovebox mind you... plus countless cds...
they have probably never worked a minute for what they have, its all due to their parents... or lack of parenting...
even after a drive around the area to look for them, the area is a estate so its not that big... i did not find anything or anyone... if i did they would have known about it... i reported it, but theres no rreal use... now i have to get another window, try and trace the gps and just spent 2 hours cleaning the glass from the car... not happy...
whats worse is they reached across the car covered in mud to grab the holder for the navman...

Pieces of filth. And if they're caught, they'll be lucky to get a nasty word from the courts. If we had 12 lashes of the rattan like in Singapore, these vermin might think twice.

That really sucks, and unfortunately even if they are caught nothing will happen to them. Its not that the cops dont care but they really cant do anything.
I used to work with juvenile offenders and they really are a complete waste of oxygen and a drain on society..... mostly the parents are to blame.... Ive met some real doozies.
Ive also met some real useless DOCS workers who never thought twice about handing money to kids so they can go and buy drugs...... thats why I no longer work in that sector.
I dont think i'll ever buy a flash new car as its really not worth it these days, you cant have anything nice anymore.

Most of the youths in the system dont have jobs or school to go to and although their welfare is funded by the government it is impossible for a care provider to entertain these mongrels 24hrs a day. As an adult carer we are not permitted to restrain them or forcebly detain them within a premises. All that can be done is report it and wait for the cops to find them and bring them back... which rarely happens. They usually come back when they are tired and hungry and want to raid the well-stocked refridgerator.

Its awesome how our tax dollars are spent....... chances are nb_351 actually paid for someone to do that to his pride and joy.

Although I sympathize with what has happened to you, WTF did you leave a hundred dollars and your Navman in the car?

the navman was left in the glovebox, like usual, only the holder was clipped on the window... and the money was in the glovebox in various notes, there was one 5 in the centre console, thats it...
the funny thing is, i unlocked the centre console the other day to get a cd out, otherwise its usually locked, as the car has a 6 stacker so it doesnt need to be opened very often...
lesson to everyone, dont leave any signs of things in your car...
i shouldnt have to take the gps out of the car everytime im not going to use it, i should be able to have the freedom to leave it in the car for whenever i need it... but i cant even do that... or even a few dollars of hard earned, which i doubt these ..... know the first thing about...

nb ,im sorry for your loss.these nobs deserve a good hiding.about 3 nightsago a couple of teenagers came down my street jumping on the roof of everyones car at about midnight.some how i was lucky but the xr6 ute parked in front of me had his roof dented in.and i guy a few doors up had all his four cars damaged ,one parked behind the others.

on another note i dont leave anything in the car of value.i would never leave $100 in the car when i could put it in my wallet.its because of thes goodies showing that your car was broken into.evryone knows that if you have a gps nav stand on the windscreen there is a big chance that one is in the glovebox.in school holidays you need to be extra carefull.i see only too offen women leave all sorts of stuff on the front seat.usually young ones with no idea but on the other hand plenty of older ones.i know some guys who who are also slack in this area.yes its a shame we have to hide our toys but if you dont as you can see they will go missing.i'll put that $100 on that if your nav was not showing it would still be in your car.school holidays ....just great.

Hand cuffs, chain , and locked to burning car.... Then throw them a hacksaw....
It would take too long to cut through the chain, the next option will make them think real hard next time this thought comes into their [brain] sorry head...

The nav thefts are becoming more common, heard from police officer even if the bracket isn't there they look for the ring mark on the windscreen (where the suction cup goes for the bracket). If they see it they smash your window, if the navs in the car bonus, if not no loss to them.
Punishment for these crimes should be way harsher, also don't forget the one's buying this stuff create a market for it! :

I've read this little gem about 10 times and I hope I've read it wrong, cause if it's how I read it, you're not that much better than them.

(I don't know if this technology is already available, but here's my little brainstorm)

Wouldn't it be great if every GPS unit, as well as telling you your location, could announce its serial number and current location. When it gets stolen, the cops or whoever could flag the serial number, and as soon as that serial number gets announced with a location (probably when they turn on their ill-gotten unit to test it or whatever) BANG they could be swooped upon.

These people are absolute scum and need to go find something better to do with their time, I get bored quite often too and I can say that out of all the times I've been bored and/or broke, I have broken into vehicles/houses/committed crimes to make money on zero of those occasions.

My first car, a 1974 Toyota Corolla coupe, was stolen and written off back in 1999, with only third party insurance on it. I was ropeable, and to this day if I find out who did it, I will probably commit a crime that day. And it won't be theft.

I hope you manage to sort it all out and get the repair/cleanup done with a minimum of inconvenience. Unfortunately, I think you'll probably find that 6 months down the track, a little tiny piece of glass will still show up, seems almost impossible to get rid of it all :(

I was down at my local shops the other day and this bloke had a kid by the arma nd was taking him to the bench seat, I though it was his old man and he was in trouble..

Turns out as I had to walk slow "I had a saw knee ;)" That he had tried to break into the guys car and got caught. The bloke didn't hit him or anything, just bascially ask him why it did it and where his parents were so he could call them to pick him up. The kid was packing his undies and made up a story that he was homeless and lived in a refuge thats why his parents couldn't be called. The guy called the bluff and said well your not going anywhere until someone comes and picks you up, your parents, refuge, or cops..

Sometimes you would love to catch the little bastards, one night we did catch some kids breaking into my mates car, my mate yelled out Oi" and they bastard pulled a knife on him and ran away.. Ya just never know huh.

For some reason there Mr Cube your story reminded me of one my mum told years ago.

Some guy she worked with finished work and headed out to his car to go home, there were a couple of kids trying to get into it. He apparently didn't aggressively approach them, just went up and was like "hey guys, any problem?" they replied "umm we've locked the keys in the car and don't have RAA, just trying to get in". So the guy who's car it was pulled the keys out his pockets and goes, "what, you mean these keys?" or something, and they legged it.

Put the little good for nothings in one of the armed services for four years or so then they won't have free time on their hands and they will come out with a respect for others property and for authority.

All this stuff that the do gooders say don't discipline the child. What most of these kids need is a swift kick up the backside.
