Must say this happened much earlier than anticipated but not surprised considering it’s lack of sales compared to Mustang and Challenger in the States.
What now for Supercars? https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&r...84S7V9b-QzQi51

Has been known for at least 18 months that I know of, hence the hate from GM fans that the “new Mustang looks more like Camaro”,blew up a storm in a tea cup last year. IMO, that sort of projection sour grapes tells me that new Mustang should pick plenty of ex Camaro buyers.

Yep I know it was going to happen, but not in 9 months time. I think most people expected it probably late 2025 at the earliest.

It'll likely come back in a few years on another platform.

I haven't read the above story, but wasn't there some talk (conformation?) that the Camaro would be replaced with a new EV platform? If that is the case, maybe this is just the end of the ICE Camaro?

They should just put all that gear into a Monaro / GTO shell. Would sell better I reckon.

Out of curiosity, how has this genre of cars been selling across Asia and the Subcontinent? Are there any countries which have been significant markets for the three?

GM supplied the design idea for the Camaro, Holden did all the engineering and final design to the US requirements off the VE platform. One of the main reasons the VE Monaro / Coupe 60 was canned. Anyhow, no loss or tears for the Camaro as far as Australians are concerned. |

I really don't know why GM are even in supercars here. It's not to promote anything they sell, and soon, the car won't even exist at all. So what's the point?
To promote the Chev brand that only sells Silverado's and a couple hundred Corvettes a year? The name might continue in future, but it won't be a coupe. Most likely an EV crossover like the Mach E. |

Price,
US prices for Corvette start at USD$64,000……that’s close to AUS$100,000 unconverted and undelivered. GM once mentioned doing factory RHD Corvette but quietly dropped that idea, well they don’t advertise it.. How much is that new RHD Mustang…….lack of global sales killed the cumarro…. Say Cumarro to a yank and watch his head go red and nostrils flare…ka-merr-oh |

Isn't the new Corvette a factory RHD?

For once, Ford outsmarted GM with this one.
I have been highly critical of Ford for their continual stupidity regarding product decisions, namely a lack of export for products that would have been successful outside of the USA, Maverick and the Bronco twins in particular. And yet, a decade ago, Ford knew they needed to expand outside of the US/Canada for Mustang to survive. And the result is they sell every single Mustang they make. From memory, Australia or the UK or the biggest export market for Mustang. FCA/Stellantis or whatever they are calling themselves this week decided to stay local to the US with Challenger and Charger. GM did the same with Camaro. Both WOULD have been successful like the Mustang if exported. Instead, Dodge are making their pony cars electric, and GM are deserting the Camaro...............again.

I will go and hang this on their board room wall.
There are other people living in the white areas who have the potential to buy products that we make. The population of the white areas combined is a lot larger than the USA. If you successfully sell to the white areas you have a better economy of scale and a larger profit.

Just listening to the news, getting the youngest ready for school, GM representative says they will support all racing teams in US, Australia, Canada etc until the end of 2024, then it's tough luck, you're on your own boys and girls.

Did they ever end up selling any converted Camaros in Australia?
Thought they gave up because of low orders…..more money in trucks I guess. |

I think there was an update to the Camaro and they couldn't justify the work required to continue production
