I was lookin through the powerchip site to find out what gains a powerchip would have over the stock chip on my EF, and it said it will boost power from 157kw to 172kw or 177kw on optimax, and boost torque from 357nm to 385 or 395nm on optimax.
Has anyone here got a powerchip?? if so did it give you a noticable gain?? and did you notice a change in fuel economy?

Assuming your motor is stock... chip + stock motor = minimal gains if not a loss!
Chips are generally for making the most out of mods, rather than for "getting" more power out of a stock motor. IE a motor with a full exhaust system & a different cam would benefit from a chip as the chip would optimise the tuning, because the ECU was designed with a standard motor (and standard tune) in mind. |

they claim that you are better off having a stock engine though, and a stock cam especially *shrugs*

As in... you've been told not to bother due to having a stock motor/stock cam? That's good advice.
If you've been told otherwise (ie the chip gives you more when your motor is stock) then that's el-dodge-o! |

Some chips are good, ones that are tuned specifically for the car. Powerchip don't even dyno the cars when they make them, just one standard program for each vehicle. Don't bother with them. Get a cam and a unichip or chiptorque if you must.

No they are more expensive, but I believe that they are tuned in real time, for your car, taking into account modifications you have.
