Default Escky or Capri?

I'm looking at buying a MK2 escky or V8 capri for tarmac rallying and club sprints, but i'm having a hard time trying to decide. Small block BOSS 302 Capri or smoking hot twin cam 2ltr. Someone please help!

I vote Mk II Escort with white hot 2ltr under the hood. Better balance for high speed cornering due to the lower weight in the front and better weight distribution, good power to weight ratio, a proven history when it comes to tarmac rallys (have a look at where escorts regularly come in the classic adelade rally each year), the list goes on and on.

But as you can tell from my avatar, I may not be the best person to ask, LOL.

Really, either way you can't lose, classic Fords that look good and go hard in either case!

definetly go the escort, v8's r too torquey for rally sprints n too heavy to throw around, get ur 2ltr, couple of 40mm webers, lumpy cam n ull dominate...

Go the Escort for circuit work. A guy at work has a MK1 2 door with the Fiat twin cam 2 litre alloy mtr he uses for circuit work.
I think he was thinking of selling the car as he has a MK1 Zephyr project going with a V8 conversion at the moment.

Being slightly biased towards the Capri seeing as I've had 3 of them and currently have an Rs3100, if you go the Capri route throw in a 289 windsor because the small windsors actually weigh less than the V6, and they fit in real nice then you get better weight distribution and a fair bit more grunt
