Default XR8 banished to the street

SO being 18 i still live with the parents who in all their wisdom deceided to resurface the driveway, meaning the xr8 cant make it up the hill without taking a chunk out the front bar onthe way up or ripping off the exhaust on the way back down.

i just thought id share my sadness :(

possible solutions?

come in on a huge angle, but i'm sure you have tried it. my xr6 has troubles with our driveway, but there is a perfect angle that i can reverse out easily.

Your parents must be trying to tell you something. My parents wouldn't sleep well if they knew my car was just sitting out the front not being in the garage or behind our gates!

Good excuse to get it bagged?

Tried the steel ramp it doesnt work.

I think ive cracked it parents wont like it tho because I'll "damage the the new turf" its 2 year old turf lol.

and it involves reversing on a steep hill (perpendicual to the hill). missing the mailbox by cms and the water meter by even less. its possible but not liking the idea tho especially in the wet not liking the idea of sliding into the the mail box. (I'll draw a diagram if requested)

Um as for the XR8 while 18, why not, i finished school 2 weeks after i turned 17. Been working full time since then so while i can afford it i figured why not.

Can't move out due to father having a terminal illness

Why not add your own concrete to the grass you are using, or buy some gravel like garden rocks (like the red ones), and build a sort of a rockery thing allowing you to safely traverse where the grass would ordinarily be. Oh, and when adding the rocks you mix in dry cement with them, some red oxide and then scatter. Once done, compact it a little then water it in.

Looks good and is functional. Of course, put some plants and stuff around it to make it look like it was always supposed to be there.

If it is the gutter just stick a lump of wood in it and drive over that. If it is the gradient of the driveway then you are buggered.

my parents hate me parking in the driveway because it blocks them in, so they say. This despite the fact I work earlier than either of them.....they just hate not having a cat as nice as mine.

I was more getting at the point of a p-plater having a V8...

Anyways, I'm sure there is a grass verge you can park on in the interim until a solution has been found?

Thats why I think modern cars are too low to the ground, cant even get up a driveway for goodness sake. I dont know how people enjoy driving cars when they constantly having to watch out for speed bumps or kerbs or drains or dips.

Im not having a go or anything because I know most people love low cars, I just couldnt live with one. I guess were all different.

My suggestion would be ask if slightly higher profile tyres help? Or just keeping it on the street, if its insured you dont really have much to worry about.

Mate, I completely agree. I have already had the front bar on the G6 painted and it's stock height; only done 8500klm. Already the underside is scuffed again thanks to my father who borrows it when I'm away, saves it sitting out in the elements at the airport. Not that he is being careless, I scraped the bottom on my driveway by mistake as some idiot left a garage bin there preventing my usual angle of attack. It may look good but the car is too low to prevent damage.
