I have to admit I am not a fan of the styling. And the 'glass cockpit' is also a ****. Any Golf owners care to share their opinions?
If I was in the market for a new Golf I'd get a 7.5 which is still available. Pictorial comparison 7 v 8: https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/...ildergalerie-1

Looks like it will be ok, most cars have gone that way by now and it looks better than some other offerings. What I've found annoying though is the vents set so low underneath the screen, they're hard to get blowing up on your face.
For me good Golfs stopped at the MK6 for interior comfort. I've had a MK6 and a MK7, mrs still has a MK6. I jump into MK6 anytime I can. |

I don't mind the look from the outside and new interior looks good because it is brand new and clean, I'd be interested to see what it looks like with dust and finger marks all over it, a little bit too tall and vertical for the dash.
I imagine the MK8 will have too much new tech for my liking. I had a manual MK6 GTI and a MK7 R DSG both with APR tunes, MK7 R was by far the best car I've ever owned, a very easy car to drive fast and also easy to live with, the GTI was more playful and lighter on its feet but suffered traction issues especially in the wet. It's a shame VW is a disgusting company to deal with, I couldn't get anywhere with the local dealer or VW Australia when I was having warranty issues...... If I was in the market for a Golf I'd look for the lowest km MK7 R with the 6 speed manual. If the MK8 Golf R Plus with around 300kw comes to fruition I would definitely be taking a close look at that! |

almost 70/80's inspired angled dash - thinking supra. I think the mk7 R is sexier
