This is a must see, it looks awesome... Using GTDi (Gasoline Turbo Direct injection) Ford are getting V6 power and torque out of small 4 cyl size, large V8 power and torque out of small V6 size.
Eg their 2.0 4 cyl petrol has 200kw/380Nm (more than the current 4L inline six) 3.5L V6 for next Explorer has 260kw/460Nm (same power and similar torque as current 5.4 V8) same power as quad cam, same torque as 2V I wonder if the 5.8 and 6.2 Hurricane V8s will have the same technology? http://www.popularmechanics.com/blog...html?series=47 |

This will be the biggest thing since common rail injection on the diesels.
As far as i know the V8's will get it too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Boss_engine Quote:

As long as the TwinForce (= save the whales/EcoBoost) power is used for good!
Tell the greenies they can get the same power from a smaller engine with better economy, then give real drivers more bang for their buck - same capacity, same economy, more power - now you're talking! |

What a lovely name. I would have preferred something less girly like "EcoBlosom" or "FlowerSpray".

Whatever. I just hope the V8's get the same technology.
