Hey Guys,
Just something trivial that I just thought about with the FG FPV range. I was flicking thru the latest Motor Mag, and there is a test between the GT-E, the Senator, and the 300C SRT8... I was looking at the photos, and I'm still getting used to the FPV badges on the front and rear, and the fact that the FPV range was NOT going to carry a FORD badge on them basically at all... Then I looked at the Steering wheel of the GT-E... And there it was... the FORD logo... Now, I went and looked at the logo on the Senator, and sure enough its the HSV logo, and not the Holden lion... Isn't it strange that they've deleted all Ford badges, symbols, etc and replaced the major badges (nose and tail) with FPV badges (that are incidently the same shape as the Blue Ford Logo)... but they haven't bothered to change the one on the steering wheel?? : I know its a small thing, but I would have thought that if you were going to make a change on the car, like delete ford badges, then wouldn't you delete them all?? Your thoughts anyone????

Its a dumb idea but it costs money to get badges made, and FPV just couldnt afford that extra $2.50 for the steering wheel, plus they were worried that the guys fitting them would scratch the airbag cover removing the old one.. which wouldnt look that good!

I guess it's easier to not put badges on a car than it is to have wheels ordered in without a Ford badge. Perhaps an oversight, perhaps on purpose, perhaps a cost issue. I don't think there's too many people that religiously read here that could answer that with any authority.
Well spotted though. |

I dont see the problem with it, after all it is a Ford.
BMW M class still use BMW badges especially on the steering wheel. AMG Mercs Still have the Merc badge on the steering wheel. Some may argue that both the M series and AMG series are still very close to the parent compaines, but i'm gonna go against the crowd and say i prefer the ford badge on the steering wheel and the FPV badges on the outside. After all there is more racing heritage under the Ford badge than the FPV badge. Cheers.

I read some where that ford did not want them to badge them fpv.
But ford only owns 49% of fpv . So at the end of the day it was fpv's call . |

It could be a lot worse. The 'HSV' Astra VXR still has the Opel badges on the steering wheel, my bet would be that most ordinary Aussie punters wouldn't even know what an Opel was

The whole steering wheel should have been FPV IMO.
anyway, i agree it should have been an FPV badge. Minor detail, but details matter.

I think its due to the fact they are using the same wheel in the FPVs as is standard in the XR cars now.
FPV BF1 cars had the option of the chunky wheel, which then became standard with BF2. It was one more point of differentiation which has dissapeared now. |
