Default Top Gear Australia - Season I over, will you be watching next year?

Ok, season one is over, post your thoughts about the show in general and vote as to whether you think it was a success or a flop.

I didn't think it was too bad. I like the idea of the different ford V Holden battles. I hope it keeps going.

It was slow to start with, I still don't think Charlie is the right host for the job. The celeb races is boring and the track needs changing.

I will be watching next season. It will improve over time. I'm sure we all watch shows worst that TGAUS. I just think they still have time to evolve, and the fact that everyone still compares them to the TGUK is not helping. Judge them on their own merits and not the shoes that everyone thinks they have to fill.

I don't think it was all that bad, not as good as the original (and it was never going to be) but 10 times better than some of the garbage out there.

The things I'm most critical about, is I find that with a lot of the reviews, they fail to give a lot of info and opinion on the car itself and often fail to find criticisms, they seem to spend more time marveling over the sound of the engine, and the ability too smoke up the tyres. I have noticed though this has improved over the course of the first season.

So basically Yes I think it was not great but better than OK, and I will definetly be watching next season, after all it well and truley kicks 'The Car Show's

Yeah I’ll watch it. Mainly because it IS the best Aussie motoring show around.

I think they’ll improve over time. First seasons are always a bit hit and miss.

I loved in the last episode in the “what were they thinking’ segment where they asked the UK top gear crew what they were thinking haha.

Not enough options...\

I will let the TiVo record it and watch it if I have time. Much like any other TV show.

I'd like to see them ridicule the cars more in the next season, point out the bad points as much as the good, and not go on about how great the cars are all the time, or how great their job is.

A complete and utter waste of my time and TV airspace. I watched part of 1 episode, and absolutely nothing could force me to endure that again.

Awful show. My wife commented 'its like a poor youtube version'. And she's right. Aside from the occasional amusing thing like using Astras as lawn bowls, it was pretty painful to watch.

Yes, I watched this series ansd I'll watch it again.

They improved markedly from the first nervous episode when no one knew them and they had very big boots to fill.

I wasn't expecting TKAUS to be as good as TGUK in it's first (or even 2nd) series but it's still a hell of a lot better than any other automotive based show that been tried in this country.

Good luck to them.

I might watch when I can, just because I think they have the potential to get a lot better. The last episode was much better than the first of the series, they are improving. I still hate that Hammond-impersonating bloke though.

Put it this way, I will watch any motoring shows on TV, even if they are bad. TGAus is getting better, wish they were more informative on the cars they drove/test, rather than just smoking them on the tracks. Everyone knows G6 Falcon is better than Commodore Omega, but it took them some effort to say it on the show. My point is that they should express their opinions more freely and give more information/details on the cars.

- change track

- tell presenters to chill out, and let the chemistry evolve naturaly rather than forcing it.

get those 2 things done and S2 could be a good show

I will watch it- i watch most things motoring - heck if I can put up with the host from In Pit Lane I can just about tolerate anyhting....

I remember watching the very first series of Top Gear UK earlier this year, and well... that was bad. This was better - not by leaps and bounds but certainly far more entertaining.

John Farnham does give me the irrits though. The Woodley look-a-like is not too bad, and the tim smith look-a-like I think is actually the one I prefer out of the 3 of them.

I watched it, will watch it next year and I was saving the Torrents... but when TGUK started showing and I was saving those I thought, would I really watch these TGAU epsiodes again.

Delete.

But I am finding it entertaining, it's TGUK lite.

Get rid of the what were they thinking segment.
They aren't funny (as much as they try to be). But I might watch the show if they have Holden v Ford comparo's.

Hard to relate to the presenters. Charlie waves his hands around too much and Steve tries to be the life of the party too much. Becomes annoying.

Agree the What Were They Thinking segment is lame.

They did improve with each episode but they are trying to copy the UK version too much. Need to be more original.

I'd prefer it if SBS saved their money on producing an Australian version and instead paid to bring the UK version to us soon after it was shown in the UK.

i thought it was ok as far as watching automotive shows go. even on austar there are hardly any car shows to watch. could improve, i think, by including more reviews of "average" cars, rather than the glutton of high end cars like jags, mercs, beemers ferraris etc. these cars are nice to see but i know ill never have one, would be nice to see a fair dinkum review on a car i could afford. the suv's in the snow, ford v holden, etc are more worthwhile in my opinion.
oh and yeah, burn down that stuipid what were you thinking wall!!
