Default The buried car

http://www.buriedcar.com/ is the site for this time capsule...a plymouth belvedier buried on this day in 1957 was removed from it's 50 year old tomb no pics of the uncovered car as of yet but pictures tell a 1000 tales.

http://www.tulsachevys.com/Images/buriedcar/index.html is a list of today pictures looking forward and dreading the unvealing pictures hopefully tomorrow or sunday.. I my self am hoping, but not expecting a half decent brand new 50 year old car underneath. at leat the $100 trust fund they threw in it will be worth a bit now.

Yep the pit filled half way to the top with water. Looks like they had to pump it all out.

The poor car is a rusty piece of junk I'm sorry to say.

Not a lot of thought was put into the way it was done IMO. Concrete is porous and the area and soil looks well "watered" and open to the elements.

Now if it was done 'properly' in the middle of an arid area (Arizona ?). The results would have been so much better.

A 'great idea' that was not 'executed greatly'.

yeah its a shame, and the old plymouth cars were great looking, i was inlove with from the time i first saw christine when i was about 5 years ol, but back then in 1957 they would of had the idea that yep make a concrete bunker throw a slab of concrete on top sh'eel be right for 50 years. just hope that trust fund ,made alot of money, and the car has a decent scdrap metal value.

Gotta love Christine Hey. 1958 Plymouth Fury. I dare say this car from time capsule is not going to be in very good cond.

Why didn't they entomb the car in a glass coffin to ensure it would last and not get water logged. Surely the engineers of the time would know that in 50 years time anything in a concrete hole will leak.

Crying shame, imagine if they'd pulled it off.
Back to the drawing board.

bugger.... could have been a very nice car if it was put in the right place...

damn water!

everything will be stuffed on it.
it wont start, brake, turn, infact im betting it won't roll either....

even if it was dry, all the components would need reconditioning....

You can see part of the body. And I must say..it doesn't look promising.

Was just doing some searching and came up with this

Just did a world time comparison, 9AM Saturday Adelaide time if anyone's interested in watching it live. So 9:30 Eastern time, 7:30 Western time (if I've got my Aussie timezones right, don't count on it!).

Just watching the live feed and the car is stuffed but the time capsule has come out perfect. The live feed is still going and is very interesting.
