Default And i was wondering why i was getting stratches and footprints on my car!

Seems my cats have made my car's bonnet into their bedroom:P

Decided not to scare them off, or they would leave crazy scratches while trying to get traction when they run off.

Any ideas on how to stop this? (shooting them is not an option:P)

Might seem a pain, but if it's garaged at all, perhaps put a blanket/sheet over the bonnet? Just wouldn't want it getting wet in the rain!

They're attracted to the kitten playing with a ball of string on the front edge of the bonnet :

No , shooting them would be cruel !

Just park the car so they cant get to it . Like on top of them ! :

Just jokin. I actually like cats . They taste kinda like chicken ! "Buda Bing "

But seriously, neighbours cats make good hats !

In reality I have no no idea how to stop them from seeking the warmth of your bonnet !

Take them inside and provide them with a working heater put a nice rug or sleeping hatch close to the heater and they will enjoy it.
ours do, the purring in it self is just worth it.
Cats are way better of and so is the rest of the world when they are inside and well fed, i.e. treated as a loved pet.

The only footprints acceptable on a car should be on the inside of the windscreen. High up. And widely-spaced. :

I would try and put a picture of a dog on the windscreen... or something more evil, like a bat, or even better, a CHEAP rubber Bat toy from a toystore, that would scare them and they wouldnt come back.

my car is garaged every day and every evening i put a car cover over it as my cats sleep in the garage too. it's a bit of a pain, but it keeps the car free from cats scratches and footprints and it also keeps it clean from dust. get yourself a car cover

Thing is if i Start using a carcover the kids in the street will start messing with it aswell:( I have a garage but until today my wagon was in there, and as of next week my EA will be sitting in there.

Problem is it happens to every car! my commo, my mums laser, the cortina...

And this is how the kents are leaving it looking since its muddy outside at the moment!

I guess i should stop washing the car, then i wont notice these things:P

At least their your own cats. All I get is the neighbourhood cats and it really ships me! Wouldn't mind as much if it was my cat.

Nowadays I get possum prints across my bonnet as they use it as a stepping stone to climb the tree to get on the roof of the house.

I had this problem with people who thought it would be good for the environment to let cats out at night.
I was told sprinkle pepper all over the car, for about a week. The cats dont like the smell, and wont ever go back to the car.
I tried it and it worked a treat.
BUT!!!! Dont put the pepper on the car in the wind, and stand downwind from it. I now know what pepper spray would feel like. It made me cry for half an hour, and my face swell up. Awesome.

Yep, pepper is the go. Its not only the smell they hate either. Whats the first thing a cat does when it sits down? Licks its feet, and guess where the pepper is.............

Get a quote for bonnet resprays of any car that has been affected. Find cat owners, show them the pictures that you have taken. Tell them you want the $$ to cover the quoted repairs to you car/s.
If they laugh at you, and most cat owners will. Tell them that you will be disposing of the cats via approved humane methods.

My mums cat sat on the bonnet of my car once. Could see it through the window. Waited for it to get nice a comfy, then I pushed the button on my remote. The one that sets of the horn. Gave him a fright and he got a short distance from the car before he stopped and looked around. He hasn't done it since.

Mate I have exactly the same problem! We have 3 cats, 2 of which basically live in the garage. I just washed my car today and when i go out there only 3 hours later there's already muddy cat paw prints where the cat has jumped onto the boot and walked the length of the car and hopped off at the front of the bonnet!

It's incredibly annoying, and I find the only way to stop it happening is get one of those car covers, but it's a huge hassle taking the thing off & putting it on every time you come home / leave.

My problem is damn magpies hopping all over my car leaving footprints, and quite literally, crap, all over my car.

Only seems to be when its freshly washed and all nice and shiny too :(

Definitely agree on an idea like the pepper to keep them off. Isn't there something else like citronella or something they can't stand? I know dad sprayed some kind of liquid stuff on top of our backyard fences years ago, to try stop cats jumping into our yard and killing the rabbit we had at the time.
