Default Smoke at the drags

At calder on saturday while waiting for my runs i was continually clouded in smoke.. i cant stand it and was trying to hold my breath as im sure it isnt healthy too. was watching the marshals dissapearing in it aswell as some spectators standing at the fence behind the burnout area ans they didnt appear fazed by it.. Anyone else dislike being in clouds of smoke? a smallish amout is bearable but i was on a bike and couldnt escape it

If u cant handle the smoke id so that drag racing might not be your calling. What the say if u cant handle the heat get out of the kitchen.

Its like the smell of deepheat as an amatuer footballer, the smell of chlorine for a swimmer or smoke for a drag racer its all part of it.

I can only hope so

I used to race a Front wheel drive (KA Laser) and for the first lap I often had trouble seeing the dash for the tyre smoke in the car (it did not have a lot in the way of door seals)

On a particular set of nasty dunlops at eastern loop at lakeside I once had so much smoke in the car the marshalls thought I was on fire Got to love it.

The smoke dos'nt bother me but I used to hate the black stains from the rubber on the bonnet when I first painted the car, but I stopped caring long ago

Sorry but 9/10 horsepower addicts go for the burnouts... If you don't like the smoke stay in the pits!!!

The only smoke i don't like when racing is the stuff coming from my tranny or motor

LONG LIVE BURNOUTS!!!!! :sm_headba :sm_headba :sm_headba

I love the smell too, But I think the topic poster is talking about being smothered in it for fairly long periods of time and having to inhale it constantly... Nothing beats the smell of burning rubber IMO, but choking on a cloud of it is no fun.

Alot of purfumes are terrible, smoke isn't as bad.
It's not as good as race fuel.

Haha! This reminds me of that thread some guy started on the old forums about going to Calder and complaining that the cars with dropped pipes were too noisey. :

ROFL!!! Classic!

I love the smell of burning rubber, its one of the things I love about the drags, and also the smell of a V8 SC event - love it! Clouds of it are even better, as it goes with the noise! Took my kids to Heathcote last time and they loved it!

Yes, I remember that bloke on the other forums complaining about noise at the drags... LOL... Tool.

I wonder if this thread is a joke....
