Drink Driving

I work as a driver trainer, and I am really interested to know how many people have driven drunk verus the amount that never have. I will give a 3rd option as well for those that aren't sure.

I DO NOT WANT ANY IDENTIFYING DATA, just whether you have driven drunk, I would recomend that you don't post anything, just do the survey.

I am posting this survey on a couple of the more busy forums.

Driven drunk, do you mean with a BAC over 0.05?
Yes, hundreds if not thousands of times. Of course the limit was 0.08 and before that 0.15.
I have also done 254km/h on a public road, hunted pigs with a machine gun, camped in public parks, smoked in public buildings, smoked in an airplane, carried a handgun in my pocket in a public place, carried a knife in a public place, drag raced on public roads, ridden motocross bikes up and down the sand dunes on Fraser Island and lots of other politically incorrect fun things AND NONE OF IT WAS AGAINST THE LAW.

There are too many people whose entire life is spent trying to control and take freedoms from others in the name of "safety" just to make themselves feel better.......

I have and the cop that dragged me out of the car and drove me to the cop shop was at the other end of the bar when I walked into the pub.
I shouldn't have done burnouts out of the front(friggen off duty cops)
But I learn from my mistakes.

so far 46.something percent have never driven drunk.i find this hard to believe but also find it reasuring.as for the record i have driven drunk a number of times.for the record a have never been done.also for the record i dont make a habit of it .i was once pulled over by an rbt and found to have alcohol present.the officer asked me what licence i had and i told him i had a gold licence.he said alright on your way,without even asking me to produce it.thanks officer.and thankyou to anyone that has never driven drunk.

It could be that many younger people could answer that question with a honest no. However, those of that lived in this country before .05 and random testing will remember it was part of Australian culture and the norm amongst many to drink and drive back before the 1980s.

For some .05 is drunk, for others it isn't, but that isn't my question.

My question is about knowlingly driving drunk.

I have driven home after a few drinks when I was on my P's....wasn't drunk but would have lost my license.

Went to the party expecting to stay but had a blu with someone and, being the drama queen I was when I was 18, I cracked it and went home...silly really because I would have lost my license and made a bad night worse...

The way I look at it is there is being over the limit and being actually drunk.

Even the most goodie goodie people I know would have driven whilst being over the limit.

Go to any restaurant where alcohol is served and see how many drive home.

Drove home the morning after still feeling the affects, but only once. I wasn't drunk but I suspect my reaction time would have been effected. Many years ago now though.

exactly. i know people that lose the plot after 1 drink... good for them! i try not to go out as much as i used to because i found that to get some kind of effect from alcohol it will cost me a good $100 out in the city on drinks, at least... what's that... a dozen drinks over an evening?

no, i would not drive in such state but i can tell you 3 or 4 drinks have almost no effect on me. yet the bloke that has 1 drink and he's all over the shop is OK to drive home, but if i had 3 drinks and completely sober, i can't do the same.

so your poll is just a reminder of the 1 size fits all attitude that has taken over a lot of our liberties. i don't like it, but that's just my opinion, right?

this post may be annoying, but it's nowhere near as annoying as your poll for a lot of members here.

Does that include trying to save the number of people killed by drunk drivers, this subject hits a bit close to home and I wont be drawn into it further but am certainly interested in the results of the poll without the go doers on both sides of the fence replying with their own political agendas.

Im am close enough to being 40 and never have driven a car even after one drink, but alas is that as dangerous as driving tired, maybe another poll!

ok, so on the same token, we should condemn those who drive tired, those who have taken medication, those who have just had an argument with their partner, those who have decided to touch the radio buttons for a split second, those who have looked in their mirrors only to find a hazard in front of them as they look up again.

it's a touchy subject. i get it. but lots of lives are damaged through reasons other than drink driving. i work with a paraplegic every second night of the week and i have heard enough stories of how people have lost control of their limbs... and guess what... they were not ALL caused by drink drivers.

i'm no condoning the fact. but let's please draw similar attention to other causes of sorrow in life.
