Default DFB's Ford Brochures.

I started collecting Ford brochures as a teen, my Uncle who worked at a Ford dealership brought me a stack of the then current Ford range in the early 2000's. Ever since, I continued to add to the collection to the point where I have nearly every Falcon brochure from the late 90's till the very last FG-X.

Being in lockdown and needing something to do, I thought I would put a few into pics. So, behold my retirement fund...........

Starting with these two FTE brochures from 1999. I wish I had T2 and T3 versions. Check out that Aubergine leather!

Continuing the AU theme, I have a collection of AU, AU II and AU III brochures.

AU -

AU II -

AU III -

Now onto BA and BA MK II. The BA one (top left) has been well loved, would hate to think how long I have spent reading that brochure over the years.

Also have BA and BA MK II Fairlane & LTD brochures.

BF and BF MK II including Fairlane & LTD -

There was a multiple editions of the FG brochure, switching from landscape early on to portrait format for later editions. Again, the early FG brochure was much read when I was shopping for one early in 2008.

Then onto the last Falcon brochures -

Being a brother to the Falcon, Territory brochures are a natural addition.

Over the years, I have also amassed a variety of promotional material as well.

A lot of that stuff was from when the Melbourne Motor Show was still a thing. The first image, the 2010 Falcon and Falcon Ute Upgrade Comparison Guide more of a dealer training item that I somehow ended up with.

In the picture with the UTEOPIA 'number plate', is he operating a power tool from inside the ute? That's slightly bizarre, but I guess it's why the plate says what it says.

Brochure collecting can be a fun thing to do. They are factory items, they are free if you get them when they are current and they are a record of the past.

Use to collect all the brochures from the dealers in the sixties, had hundreds.Sold them to fund a new driveway in the nineties.Have all the Ford brochures from the AU up,67-68 Cortina.A very rare Honda NSX brochure from the very early nineties.(dealer)Numerous other manufacturers.Unfortunately most manufactures have now gone digital.I try & obtain a brochure for any car I have owned. There is also an anomaly in the FGX ute brochure, see if you can pick it!Great collection DFB!

Ford were using the tag line "so comfortable that once you get in you'll never want to get out" when the FG Ute launched.

Ask a dealer for a brochure today and you will get a blank look!

I have also been saving PDF versions of Ford brochures in recent years too.

As for the anomaly in the FGX Ute brochure, I cant pick it from the photos I posted. Although the fine print wording makes it sound like 19" Alloys were optional on the XR6 Turbo when they were in fact standard.

Have a really good look @ the Silver FGX XR6 ute on page 15.Then compare with the other photo’s.Are Ford still giving out ‘hard copy’ brochures?

Got it!

The radio aerial is at the top of the windscreen rather than the back of the roof.

Then, if you got to page 16, the white XR6 Turbo has no aerial at all.

Correct! That is the old design from the FGMK1 & 11.How they missed that one is beyond me.Picked it up as soon as I looked @ the brochure when I got it way back in 2015.And of course the FGX sedan picked it up as well on the back of the roof. The very last MK11 FGs also had them(sedan).

Yes, the aerial is the easiest way to tell a late FG MK II.

Are old car brochures worth any money?
I have a collection from the late 70's - late 80's
Not just Ford but other makes as well.
Haven't looked at them in years so not sure of the condition.
Pretty sure I have XD / XE Falcons and maybe the XE ESP for example.

My word they are.You would have no issue moving them on.Price is condition dependent of course. Some are more valuable than others.

To a degree, yes, although like anything, it will depend on age and condition.

Some brochures will be more sought after than others, or very hard to find. A hard-to-find brochure on a special or desirable car or bike will probably push the price up. I think ebay etc made it easier to find brochures than it was pre-internet and prices might have softened as a result.

An interesting piece of trivia is that the very first item to be advertised on ebay was a car sales brochure.

Great collection DFB

The internets opened up the world of collecting but I remember them being plentiful at car show and autojumble stalls. Not so much now.

I've got a few for the cars I own but mainly aim for factory workshop manuals and parts catalogues.
It was like the planets aligned when I picked up My Mk1 Cortina, it was in pieces and a parts manual with all the exploded diagrams of how it goes back together popped up on gumtree a week later. Better still it was only $20.

This one was released for the launch of the AU III Falcon in late 2001, although it's more of a leaflet/poster than a brochure.

Always love this image of the XR8.

Interior luxury, 2000's style!

When the heights of safety were ABS and dual airbags!

The early 2000's Mustang Cobra, which were RHD converted by Tickford, and the 2015+ Mustang.

The single best thing about the Cobra was the engine.

Love the sketches of the S550.

Who remembers the Laser and KA!

My Grandfather's last car was a Laser LXi sedan back in 2000. It was very well made and never once gave any trouble, even after it passed on to two of my cousins as their first cars.

The KA was pretty out of it's depth here in Australia, powered by an ancient 1.3 OHV engine and only available with a manual. In my opionion, the KA was one of the more successful examples of Ford's "New Edge" design theme.
